Great Location – I just stayed at the Bon Maison Guest House January 28 through 31. Great location - eight blocks from Canal Street and four blocks from Decatur (Cafe du Monde).

Built in 1833 so it has character (not for the people who like new hotel rooms). [A little more polish would upgrade to very good/excellent.]

I stayed in the former slave quarters on the third floor - no elevator (great for the leg muscles) - on the back side of inner courtyard. Very quiet. The room was clean and lots of hot water.

The location was great - just past the busy part of Boubon Street but close enough to stop by the room to rest and refresh yourself - drop off purchases, etc.

A guest house best suited for adults who enjoy sleeping near the action. – The Scene
This historic former slave quarters was built in 1833. Today, it is positioned between Cafe Lafitte and Bourbon Club, two of the city's hottest gay bars. That said, this five-room French Quarter guest house is actually at the quieter end of Bourbon Street. Relatively speaking, your chances of getting a restful night's sleep are high. Rooms are set back from the street, through a dark corridor and an open courtyard, which adds to the potential for privacy.

The Details
This inn embodies the character of a bed and breakfast and the convenience of a hotel. For example, you'll find private phones and cable TV in the rooms. You may choose between one- and two-bedroom suites, the latter of which sleeps up to four people. All rooms are non-smoking, have private entrances and contain a small kitchen area with refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.

Bon Maison Is Wondeful – Bon Maison is quiet and a block down from the loudest and more crazy side of Bourbon Street, the owners are friendly and knowledgeable and will send you for the best food at the best rates. The cost is incredible for the location. The rooms are small, cool, and nicely decorated, pleasant, with kitchenette. The courtyard is beautiful to sit and have a break from the room and the streets. Short walk to the Mississippi and Cafe du Monde. This is not a luxury hotel, is gay and straight friendly and is a clean comfortable wonderful place to stay and I will go back and recommend it to anyone I heading to New Orleans.
