WHAT HAPPENED!? – I don't remember this place being so BAD! I ate there a few years ago and it was fine. We ate there last night and it was HORRID! The place was FILTHY, the food was disgusting. The waitress needed a shower. I would take a fire hose to the place if I owned it.
Do not go here – This understaffed tourist trap is a waste of time with so many great bars just steps away. The waitress ignored our food order and we waited 15 minutes for our beers, which ended up not being the ones we wanted. Poor choice of food and expensive. Good luck trying to get food up to your patio table.
Great food, service, and ambience! – What makes Rippy's special is its fabulous service and ambience. The food is good too, but it's pretty standard bar food. What we especially liked was sitting on the upper balcony and enjoying the evening air while listening to the sounds of country music from downstairs and along the strip. The burgers and fried fish were satisfying and tasty, and our server was friendly and accommodating. It's our new favorite spot on the row!
Loved it :o) – Rippy's was GREAT! We recently went to Nashville for a fun vacation and had such a great experience here. Our server, Elliot, was the best as well as some of the other staff members (Jamie and Daniel). The manager made us feel right at home (Kenneth) and we will be sure to go back there the next time we are in Nashville. I felt like I was in a bar "where everyone knew your name."
Great service!! – I just wanted to say that this is the only bar downtown where we get good service!!! We have tried almost everywhere down there and can't seem to get a drink if we don't know the bartender. I just wanted to say Kudos on the friendly staff they have at Rippy's! I've seen a lot of reviews that say otherwise, but I have never had a problem with anyone or the service I've received! If anyone gets bad service in this bar, it's probably because they are unbearable, rude customers!
Warning – Recently we were attending a convention in Nashville, TN, and had lunch at Rippy's Ribs. The food was OK, nothing to recommend. The Waiter, Chris, was rude, not attentive and we had trouble getting our check when we were finished eating. Rippy's Ribs was the only place in Nashville that we used our VISA card. VISA called us shortly afterwards to inform us that our card's number had been used in Stone Mountain , GA, and Atlanta, GA. We tried to call Rippy's and speak to the manager. She, Jen, didn't have time to speak with us. Be careful in this restaurant!
Poor BBQ at best! – The ribs were not at all tender, not moist and were tough! There is no real BBQ sauce applied, just an attempt to add a rub, an excess amount of red pepper and a cook process that rendered tough bones! I've had numerious ribs around the US and these are truly some of the worst for the ratings this place has. Service was also fairly poor. I would not recommend this place for BBQ when in Nashville.
PLEASE DON'T GO HERE! – I went to Nashville for a show, and before the show I wondered up and down Broadway taking in all the fun and kitschy shops. My friends and I thought that Rippys looked liked like a good place to eat so we went in. We stood there inside and was not greeted. We were ignored for a couple of minutes then finally seated. The hostess was nice, but our waiter was RUDE and very condescending towards all of us! He was in a hurry for us to order, and like I said he rude when we did place our order. I chose the bbq sandwich and I was horrified! Worst bbq I have ever had!! And from the time he took our order until the time we left, we never saw our waiter at our table again! Yes, we saw him ignore us and walk passed us really fast, but that was it. We sat there for 15 minutes waiting for our check, and had to have another waitress get his attention to give it to us, but he gave it to her to give to us instead of him walking it over! All in all, it was a horrible experience! I will NEVER go back and I advise others to be careful of their male waiters, because they are very RUDE, and the food was not good at all !!!!
RUDE waitstaff – I had the misfortune of visting Rippy's before the Preds playoff game on Wed. 4/16/08 and will never return. My friends and I were meeting several others pre-game on the roof patio seating, and we had never been up to that area before. As we are walking through the bar, I see a waitress kneeling down near the door that I think might be the way to the roof. So I approach her, kneeling down next to her, and ask "Is this the way to the roof?" She spins around, and yells " YEAH if you'll let me get out of the way first!!!" and slams the door to the cabinet she was looking in, storming off in the process. Are you kidding me? I can assure you that the way I asked was polite (being a former retail/customer service worker I know how to treat others). Granted the bar was very busy, but thats no excuse for being rude and providing extremely poor service. I wouldn't suggest this bar ever again, unless you are the only person there and the waitresses have a lot of free time.
Rippy's Rocks!! – My husband and I went to Rippy's before a Preds game about a week ago and had the best time ever!! We went downtown on the off chance that we'd be able to get tickets to the game, but we couldn't afford what the ticket guys wanted for decent seats. It didn't matter though. We walked into Rippy's and got a table in their sidebar right away even though they were very busy. We had a server greet us within 3 minutes even with it being packed and she was the cutest little thing ever....I think her name was Laura, but I'm not sure. Anyway, we asked for the game to be put on the tv and it was done immediately with sound!!!
As for the food, it took awhile, but what do you expect when every seat is full. We tried the Hog's Sampler Platter and chicken fingers...the food was AMAZING!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone, whether you're from out of town or you live here.
