A bar that taps into Brooklyn's beer obsession. – The Scene
There are a few standard notions of what exactly constitutes a good neighborhood bar. Ideally, it's got a convivial, comfortable air, friendly bartenders, decent drafts and an eclectic jukebox and a couple of bar snacks. Envy the denizens of the Atlantic Avenue area, because the Brazen Head has all that in spades, plus some truly stellar extras.
The atmosphere is corner pub updated with Brooklyn small-batch fetishism. Careful touches such as posted keg-change dates and a rotating selection of luscious hand-pulled ales give hops enthusiasts little reason to leave their stools, save for wandering over to tables occasionally laden with Middle Eastern treats. Also worth noting is a solid range of single malts that may leave many Brooklynites wondering why they'd ever again have to board a d.b.a.-bound train.
Can't ask for more!!!! – The Brazenhead is why there is no reason to leave Brooklyn. Great selection at a great price.
Need more beer! – The Brazen Head is a very nice Brooklyn beer bar on Atlantic Ave. The beer selection is good, with the best beer usually being a hand-pumped cask-conditioned ale (they have Victory Hopdevil at the time of this writing.... mmmmm). Stew with Lou on Saturday is fantastic (5 bucks all you can shovel in). I just wish they had more variations and possibly some more Belgian beers available on draft. Often taps are wasted with too many examples of the same style (i.e. 4 IPAs at once). Overall though the price is right and since they date the kegs, you can always be certain the beer is fresh. A great Brooklyn bar.
Best thing since the 23rd Street Bar – Cool place... Lou cooks up some good grub on Saturdays and for $5, it's all you eat - hungry cheap Scots should be pleased. The crowd is mixed: lawyers & DA's; softball players; locals; dogs; Irish chicks; chess crowd; dart crowd; couples chilling. The cute blonde barmaids offer you something to focus on other than your scotch. Cool jukebox selections. There always seems like it's either happy hour or some other drink special is going on so, thirsty cheap Scots should be happy too.
Beer Heaven on Earth – This is definitely the spot for beer lovers to sample the finer brews and enjoy that old renowned Brooklyn ambiance.
Brooklyn Bohemian's Find Their Clubhouse – This joint is the best cure for Smith Street ennui.
The Brazen Head was a delightful surprise on Atlantic Avenue. It looks unassuming from the outside, but within beats the heart of a true artist's hangout. Lou Sones has created the perfect combo of utterly convivial with effortless hip (not to mention excellent beer selections!). This is the perfect place to meet and discuss your next screenplay or the possibility another Subway series.
My favorite! – The Brazen Head has one of the best beer selections in all of New York City. From domestic to international microbeers, the bar is the ideal haunt for any beer connoisseur. Plus, the owners are the coolest people to talk to.
Brazen Head is great – Hands down the best place to get a good pint in Brooklyn. Plus they have a menu binder at the bar and you can order in from any neighborhood restaurant.
Like theSunday Music – Outstanding staff -- good attitude, friendly and competent. The Stew with Lou is one of the great bargins of the area. A very appealing group of people gather on most evenings -- nice diversity and interesting backgrounds.
Excellent – Brazen Head is a bar that shares the stylishness of Manhattan, with the down home familiarity of it's Brooklyn home. It features a juke box that includes a variety of tunes from Billy Joel and Madonna to Dusty Springfield, Radiohead, Lenny Kravitz and the Band. The bartenders are nice without phonyness, and the regulars embody everyone from the Costanza's to the Fraziers of the world. It is the all occasions meeting place in the County of Kings.
