Reviews for Mecca Gym & Spa

There's a reason that Mecca, with its sparkly, window-filled gym and in-house cafe, attracts all the celebs when they pass through town. But it's too bad celebs tend to have their own personal massage therapists, because the ones at Mecca are honest-to-goodness masters. With a flick of their "vichy shower" -- a suspended, overhead row of shower spigots that target your muscle knots with warm water -- it's all you can do not to melt right into your massage table. Don't stop there, though: Head on into their traditional massage rooms to get your exfoliated limbs lathered with shea butter, then rubbed down with a firm deep tissue massage. Like the name suggests, this kind of relaxation is a spiritual experience.

If there's one thing Mecca is known for, it's the incredible facials and massages. But if I could work out at any gym in town, it'd be this place. Those elliptical machines overlooking downtown Austin give me extra motivation to get these stems in shape!

In the middle of downtown Austin's hustle and bustle towers Mecca, where the road to serenity is a watery one. I'm talking about the "Mecca Monthly," a glorious three-service treatment that involves full body exfoliation under a warm vichy shower, a shea butter massage, and if you weren't relaxed enough already, a monthly signature cocktail. While I'll happily take a plain old massage any day of the week, it's that magical shower -- which, by the way, bathes you while you're lying down -- that makes Mecca a pleasure I don't feel at all guilty about.

MECCA GYM & SPA – I've been going to Mecca for a little over a year and have never gone anywhere else. I love the staff; they make you feel right at home the second you walk out of the elevator. I highly recommend sarah and alexis for a massage! They are amazing!!!!!!

Mecca's Services - Amazing! – I have never been one to receive spa services regularly, but since finding Mecca I am simply hooked! I try to make it each month for a facial and/or massage. For facials and waxing I see Christine, my skin has never been better! I also highly recommend her because of how happy I am with her brow shaping. I have been to both Sarah and Carrie for massage and was one hundred percent satisfied with both ladies. A great massage should be relaxing but also thorough in working out sore muscles, and each time I have received just that. From the moment you walk in to Mecca you will be immediately pampered and relaxed in the beautiful spa atmosphere. I also love to take advantage of the steam room when I'm done with my massage. After moving to Austin a year ago, I have found my spa home and will not be going anywhere else!

Monthly Maintenance – Before going to Mecca regularly, I hadn't had the privilege of experiencing something that should be a part of your life regime.

Mecca is beautiful, clean, and luxurious. The staff is friendly and helpful and very good at what they do. I had a Monthly Massage with Alexis. His spiritual energy and attention to detail prove what kind of place Mecca is.

I have not used the gym part of Mecca as of yet but I highly recommend the Spa for anything from the steam room or facial to the decadent Monthly ritual, and everything in between.

I know multiple people that go to Mecca and I have yet to hear a sour story.

Total Rip Off : Not a " real gym" – I visited this gym for the first time in September. The front desk staff acted like they were guarding a valuable exclusive, club. I decided to check it out: the equipment was the same at the Bally's gym in uptown Dallas. I didn't see the point of paying a hefty fee to work out for a couple of weeks while visiting Austin. The Spa was average compared to Equinox. Save your money, work out at Pure Fitness across the street, and then go for a nice jog at the Town Lake trails.

awesome downdown gym and spa – The atmosphere is so calming. As soon as you walk off the elevator, you feel you have arrived in a very special space. Elegant and spacious with a friendly front desk staff, and a wonderful little cafe with wine, salads and other goodies. It feels as if you are up in a glass tree house.

The gym equipment is high end and brand new, and spaced out wonderfully with plenty of room to work out. Great trainers if you want to go the personal trainer route. I love the spacious dressing areas with fluffy white towels, eucalyptus steam room, roomy showers and lockers.

The spa is a zen experience, soothing, cool, inviting and calm. And the spa staff are second to none! You must try Mecca. Come in to work out, have a massage, then finish off with a nice cocktail in the lounge...after plenty of water of course!

Mecca – A cynical excuse for a "wellness" center.

Terrible customer service – this place is all hype. can't play in the big leagues. has a difficult time walking the line between sophistication and approachability. expensive for the level of customer service.

have had much better experience and service at other similar style gyms and spas.

having good management is about creating solutions, not

walking away....

I regret signing up and would not encourage anyone to make the same mistake.

RIP OFF mani/pedi - ridiculous!!!! – I went to Mecca yesterday for the first time for a mani/pedi. After paying $115 for these services, I have to say that it was a complete WASTE of money. While the staff was polite, the service lacks big time. There was abosolutely NOTHING special about their services, it was the most basic manicure and pedicure that I have ever received. I get a manicuare and pedicure every week and this place is NOTHING special. I have received much better pedicures from the basic $30 places. I will never go back and I will say go somewhere, anywhere else and you will get a better manicure and pedicure.

Thought I Had Died and Gone To Heaven – Ok, so the first massage I ever had was at Mecca. I've had many since my first and nothing and I mean NOTHING compares! The staff is courteous and professional and the atmosphere is extra special. I have purchased many gift certificates for friends and family and no one has been disappointed. Truly upscale and a warm and comforting atmosphere. I highly recommend!

Terrific Massage – I've never been to Mecca but came at referral of a friend. I had a massage with Karen that frankly was the best I've ever experienced. I highly recommend her to anyone with specific problems as well as needing a great overall massage. The spa was very nice as were all of the staff.
