The Steaks Are High! – I have eaten at Red Grill over a dozen times and each time has been very good. The brunches are amazing - especially the "mimosa" sampler and the brunch sandwhiches. Dinner is also great - their Filet Mignon is better, IMHO, than Harris's. Downside, its tiny, can be loud and usually crowded, but well worth it for the excellent food and hot waiters!

I love the sides! – This is the only restaurant of this type who actually gives you a selection of sides with your entree. The scalloped potatoes are particularly memorable, although the portion as a side was way too big. I remember in the 80's when this location was The Neon Chicken with some of the best classic French cuisine in the city. I cried the night it closed! After 20 years it great to see a worthy contender back at that location. The wait staff if fabulous! If you treat'em real nice you might get free desert!

mmmm...steak – I think it's a good idea to call ahead and make reservations here on weekend nights. A friend and I went early on a Saturday and were able to get in, but, we saw others turned away. This is, to my knowledge, the only steaakhouse in the Castro. Our meals arrived quickly and were made exactly to our instructions. Also, the outdoor patio is quiet and somewhat romantic.

This place gets downgraded – I used to love their upstairs bar. A classy place to have a nice drink and relax. A recent visit completely embarassed me after I talked it up with my boyfriend. The bar smelled like a fast food joint as everyone was eating. The tables were filthy. Chairs were scattered everyone; some with too many, some with none. Service was terrible. A couple made the comment "You'll wait forever for her to come by" as soon as we walked in. I won't be going back to the bar upstairs.

Brunch here is wonderful, however.
