The Scene
Michelia embodies simplicity and sophistication with crisp white tablecloths, suede high-backed chairs, and chopsticks resting on delicate ceramic knuckles. A floor-to-ceiling stone waterfall adds a dose of serenity. The service is professional and friendly, and the chef herself often drops by for feedback and a chat.
The Food
Chef-owner Kimmy Tang's colorful creations are as scrumptious as they are aesthetically pleasing: Plump prawns come accessorized with giant honey-roasted walnuts and surrounded by a halo of spring greens. Sweet slivers of spiced duck breast, fanned out in a plum marinade with a deep-green background of delectable bok choy, delights the senses. Almond sesame chicken salad's luscious soy vinaigrette makes up for somewhat bland chicken strips. Tang's tender deep-fried sole is adorned with sticky rice and a delicate radish "flower," and the buttery-soft steamed sea bass is topped with chopped lemongrass and garlic. Bow out with moist mango cake, or creamy green tea and lychee ice cream
