We went there in 2000, Was very cool to hear home accents.. Kiwis (yay) played Aussie and we lost by a smidgen..boohoo. But a great hangout!
Great Local Pub – If you have ever been to Australia / New Zealand you will love it here! They have the food and beer you enjoyed while visiting. The staff is very friendly and if you are looking to find an accent you will not be disappointed!
A Gem on 99 – Yeah, she might not be all shiny and new like some bars. But it’s the folks on the inside that count. Isn’t that how the saying goes? The hodgepodge of regulars that frequent the K&K are what make this bar a real gem. Although they boast being “the only exclusively all Aussie & Kiwi bar on the west coast", you will hear an amalgam of accents. The regulars here range from ex-pats from around the world to Rugby players, and throw in a good sprinkling of just good old Seattle folks for good measure. This joint does not cater to the popped collars set, my friends. The bartenders are quick, friendly and accommodating, whether you want shots or just another pitcher of ice cold Stella. The grub may be greasy, but really, who doesn’t want a meat pie after a few pints? The pub quiz here every Wednesday is one of the city’s finest (it’s pretty damn challenging), and as an added bonus, figuring out the questions through the MC’s thick British accent is an accomplishment all in itself. Reward yourself with another pitcher! Grab a table, or belly-up to the bar - either way, say hello and make some new friends at the K.
Great place to relax and catch a rugby match... – Here's a great place for expatriates of Australia, NZ, other Pacific Islanders, rugby fans, and anyone who loves a great chill laid-back atmosphere. This bar definitely caters to rugby fans and will open up early in the day to show rugby matches. It's also a great fun place to catch an American football game and cricket as well. There's always plenty of Foster's, Steinlager, and other selections and a full bar. The food selections are a great treat and the meaty meat pies are truly delicious! There's some kind of special going on most every day/night of the week as well! Great place to kick back, enjoy a few cold ones and the crowd is typically pretty friendly. Parking isn't great and you have a hard time parking in front, in the back by the Beth's Cafe parking or on the surrounding streets. Better off not driving and just enjoy a few cold ones and the atmosphere.
A virtual Down Under for Aussies craving Fosters and Rugby. – The Scene
Many imports have already made this their new hangout--Australian and New Zealand accents fill the room. The jukebox is packed with the likes of Men at Work, Midnight Oil and Crowded House background music for those throwing darts, playing pool or watching cricket, Austrailian football ("footy") or rugby on the large screen TVs.
Sip on a Fosters, Boddington, Tetley, Guinness, Labatts or one of the other wordly draughts on tap. Only Australian and New Zeleand wines are served and a full bar is on the way. Hungry? Try a Vegemite grilled cheese sandwich, or roll up your sleeves and start peeling some boiled shrimp. Aussie meat pies, steamed mussles and spicy chicken wings round out the short but tasty (and cheap) menu.
love this place. – Hands down, my favorite place to go when I want to relax, watch the game (rugby of course!), or hang out without feeling uppity or rushed. This is the kind of place that makes a New Zealander or Aussie miss home, and any other patron wish they were there. The staff is fun and friendly, and the Steinlager's always cold. I recommend the sausage rolls and meat pies. Always tasty and hot, and perfect with a cold drink. Turn up the Marley or the Crowded House on the jukebox, and let's jam!!!
