Complete Misrepresentation.
Overall, there's nothing special about this place. If I came in with no expectations, I wouldn't be impressed or disappointed. The fact that I saw nothing inherently bad about this place would be a good thing...except this is Miami and I did come in with a certain level of expectations.
Specifically, I was expecting to come in to see a live jazz band playing. What I found was a DJ playing rap music. I don't have anything against rap, except that when I'm expecting a jazz band, I want to hear jazz. Maybe another visit would redeem this place in my eyes, but I don't think I'll make one.
Shameful.
Oh yeah, everything else about the place? About the same level as a local tavern. So just go there.
Beneath the cheesy name is 4,700 square feet of jazz and blues bliss..
The Scene
People in Miami often complain about the lack of live music venues, but when one finally opens, no one goes. Perhaps cheesy name of this jazz and blues bar/restaurant is an attempt to appeal to a wider audience. The trend even extends to a menu, where you'll find cutesy dishes such as the Chick Corea chicken wings. Look past the too-clever name, however, and this bar has the potential to succeed with its clubby interior, baby grand piano and, of course, the live music.
The Skinny
Ex-pats from the nearby and now defunct 1800 Club fill the space, along with jazz lovers, barflies and those looking for a new place to call their Cheers.
more like "crap in a Condo". Sorry but this place sucks. And if you ask me all the other rateings are sent in by people involved with this sorry place or Muscians who play there. First of all Sax on the Beach is located in an ugly back room in a condo. There is no class here. Its not even a nice dive bar with character. And as for the music when I walked in at a normat hour it was dead- I asked the guy at the door what the band was going to play that night and the guy told me "Gecco Jazz" whatever that is. My advise: avoid this place and go to some place with more character.

I'm in my late twenties and I use to club like crazy while I was in college. Back then it was "loud clubs, hard music etc. etc. Now that I'm in my late twenties, I prefer somewhere more relaxing and the "noise" level a bit more calm yet enjoyable! I was introduced to "Sax on the Beach" by my boyfriend; and though they were doing some renovations at the time I was impressed. If you're looking for a nice atmosphere, good music (contermporary jazz, latin jazz etc), wonderful service, food, drinks etc.; this is the place.

saxxy. I am new to the Miami area so I tried several nightspots around the town. However , I must say I found a home when I ventured into SAX ON THE BEACH. It truely offers the best in mature unwinding no matter what type of day you had.Sax on the Beach offers a piano player every happy hour and live bands of tantalizing variety every night. Its better than a box of chocolates. It is a melting pot of smooth sounds, refreshing libations, satisfying meals, wonderful people, and most important a SPECTACULAR STAFF. The entire staff works feverously to make every patron feel appreciated. This is a quality that makes SAX ON THE BEACH a priceless commodity that should be added to everyones social calander.
