How to contact Gene – Deep tissue massage by Gene at Zen is the best you can find as many of you know. Those trying to find him, he can be contacted at 201-575-6110.
Best nail salon in area – Have been going for 3 years, after trying several others. Very clean, nice decor, excellent management, seems like it's always open. Most of the technicians are very good.
Wonderful upper west side nail salon & spa – This upper west side gem has a very professional and experienced staff, friendly service, and a very clean environment. Because they are open every day, and are even open late into the evening, it's very easy to get an appointment or to just walk in. All the operators are so good, that I always just walk in and have whoever is available do my nails.
The decor is very pretty, with fresh flowers all over, and soothing background music enhances the relaxing experience. Zen has an extensive mani/pedi and massage "menu," as well as other services like waxing.
They offer a great selection of nail polish colors from which to choose.
My favorite part of any visit to Zen is getting a 30-minute chair massage while my nails are drying. SO relaxing! (And their massage therapists are terrific, too.)
Rude service, overpriced, nice decor – I went to get a bikini wax here the other day. It seemed like a nice place; it really is one of the cleanest places I've been to in a while. But that's where the good stuff ends... it was ridiculously overpriced. The price schedule said bikini waxes were "22 and up". I figured it wouldn't go "up" by too much, but I was wrong. I was charged $38, even I have gotten the exact same bikini wax for $22-24 in the Upper West side in similar salons. Why are they so much more expensive than other places? Why didn't she explain to me more clearly how the price works (ie, how do they determine the "up?)? I would have never agreed to a $38 waxing. To add insult to injury, the service was completely rude and unprofessional. I will never return.
Massage is great here – I've been going to this place for years for massage mainly. They know what they are doing and some are state licensed, unlike many of the nail spas. They are on time and very nice. The place is very attractive with changing floral and vegetative arrangements.
