Salespersons know nothing about electronics – Now I don't mind the poor customer service, over the top customer service is either annoying or just feeds into american entitlement anyway. The problem I had is that when I go to someone for help with my cell phone I expect them to know more about the device than I do(after all they are selling it, right?). My phone wouldn't turn on and I wasn't sure if it was the charger not charging it, the battery, or the phone. The guy at the mobile center immediately asked me if I had best buy insurance and told me he couldnt replace the phone without it. I told him I didn't think the phone needed to be replaced, I just wanted to check if it was the charger before I bought a new charger. He plugged it into the charger, ATTEMPTED to turn it on, when it didn't turn on(because he didn't know how to even turn it on) he unplugged, said it was the phone and that I needed to take it to sprint to get it replaced.
I took it to sprint, they plugged it in, it worked, I bought a new charger. I spent less than half the amount of time at sprint than I did at best buy. I'm glad I didn't have an insurance plan with best buy or I would have ended up personalizing, updating and transferring contacts to my phone all over again
Also their prices are outrageous, I mean seriously, $20 for a d*mn aux cable?
This Best Buy in Cary NC at crossroads, is the worst run business in the country. I took my computer there, and they wiped the hard drive. I bought a three-year agreement on a Norton Antivirus, and they didn’t activate it so it didn’t work. They would not fix the problem, and Norton said they could not fix it, so I had to buy it again online. The Assistant Manager said that they do not activate any Antivirus’ at their store, and that they just scan them and sell them. Of course, this was not true. I have heard many other nightmare stories about their Geek Squad. This store is run by idiots period, so stay away.
Rude and mean sales people in the TV department! – Terrible sales people in the TV department at Best Buy in Cary! I went in to purchase an AV Receiver to use with my new TV I purchased a few weeks ago at another Best Buy. I was approached by a female associate and was asked if I had any questions. I asked a semi-technical question about using HDMI-CEC to sync the TV power on/off with the receiver power on/off. The sales "lady" (and I use that term loosely) was completely inept and hostile. She CLEARLY did not know the answer to my question. Instead of saying she did not know the answer, she proceeded to tell me that she was an "expert" and told me I didn’t know what I was talking about. I walked over to a display receiver and showed her the option I was asking about in the menu. Her face turned red. I proved 100% that she was wrong. She could not believe that any customer could possibly know more than she did. She then called another employee over and walked off. The other employee told me that she was an "expert" and basically asked me to leave. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that he was “on vacation” – yeah right. UNBELEIVEABLE! I am going to return the TV I just purchased because of this awful experience.
To sum it up: "Best Buy, where it is IMPOSSIBLE for a customer to know more about the products than the minimum wage sales drones". I WILL NEVER purchase anything at Worst Buy ever again. I will also stop my company from volume purchasing anything through Worst Buy ever again. I recommend using Worst Buy as a physical catalog where you can go in and see/touch the products and then purchase them at Amazon or Newegg where the prices will ALWAYS be cheaper. Or go to HH Gregg a few blocks away. At least they are somewhat willing to work with you.
Good place but a chain is a chain – A place to go when you need eclectronics but dont think you will get much in the way of service. It takes a while to get someone to help.
Horrible experiance – i just went to best buy in Cary in search of a computer, when i arrived i was very annoyed with their sales staff. I was interested in buying a apple lap top so i asked a salesman for some help. he replied that it was not his department and he would find me someone that could help me. so ok i wait and wait and wait.....nobody comes, asked another sales person and she replied that she was currently helping someone else. so again i waited, after being told by the third salesman that they would find someone to help me and no help arriving i left the store and decided to shop online. wont shop their again
Customer Service – I called Best Buy Store on Sept. 14th 2009 as well as went into the store (as stated in the comment below) and had a very bad experience. While it is unfortunate that I had a bad experience with this store. The regional manager contacted me and corrected the situation. It is good to know that Best Buy took accountability for the situation and the steps to correct it.
Only take something back if you have hours to wait – My wife and I spent $200 on a vacuum last year making sure to get exactly what we wanted. I bought the warranty and everything (which I rarely do, because normally they are a waste of money). The vacuum started to make noises like it was about to launch.
I took it back to this store and waited in one line, then at the end of that line was moved over to another so the "geek squad" could look at it. I did not move in this line for 30 minutes! I got frustrated and went back to the other line and that one didn't move for another 10! I got out of this line, went to the front of the store and told the guy I was leaving the vacuum with him, left him my business card with my cell phone # on it and told him to have them call me when it was ready. I hate Best Buy.
Best Customer Service – Price matched a competitor every time I come in with their price/ad with no problem. Lowest Prices every time - just need to know how to shop - take the deals they offer - the rebates etc. and do not forget to mail.
Employees were very helpful in explaining a technical illiterate person everything I needed to know and I even had to call and ask a couple more questions and they answered and made sure I understood with having patience the whole time. I also had to talk to management - his name was Dan, I believe a young asian man - he was so polite and professional and did not shove me to an associate, but took care of everything I needed and even seemed to reflect an excitement in serving me - that was impressive. He also was very patient - They have my business!!!
A virtual Mecca for gear heads, this electronics giant hawks everything from booming sound systems to notebook-sized personal computers. – In Short
Founded in 1983, this high-tech haven is recognizable by its blue, box-like building stamped with a yellow price tag-shaped logo. Explore the wide, gadget-lined aisles and find brand-name goods including personal computers, video games, TVs, digital cameras, cell phones and fax machines. Choose from a slew of popular brands such as Canon, Microsoft, Samsung and Sony. In-house installation services are available for most car audio and video systems, home entertainment systems, satellite hook-up, and home appliances.
mostly helpful but watchout! – I bought a computer system a couple weeks ago. The salesman who helped me was very helpful and knowledgable about the products. He helped me gather everything I needed to set my system up in a very professional mannner. However when I took my CPU in to upgrade the memory they charged me $30 bucks to install it! Had I known that all I had to do was take the cover off and just snap the chip in I would've done it myself. I felt taken at that point. Then they charged me $20 to install an antivirus program ! I guess that's how they get you. Be nice to you until you buy a computer, but rip you off after you have it. Computer shoppers beware!
