The ambiance is decent but outside of that it was a pretty miserable experience. We stopped here for brunch in the afternoon. The waiter was polite but the service was terrible. Had to walk over and ask for water. Waited interminably for them to come take our order.

The food was okay. Not the best southern comfort food I've had but not terrible. The fries were really good. I'd also ordered Buffalo wings and like so many pretentious NYC restaurants, they don't actually know what Buffalo Wings are and their variation was terrible. Asked for extra Buffalo sauce and had to wait for 15 minutes while the wings grew cold.

Then had to go find the waiter to ask for the check. When the check came it had 20% in tips included!! For a party of 5 at brunch. There was no mention of required gratuity on the menu nor did the waiter mention it when he handed us the check, instead there was an additional space with recommended gratuity.

So mediocre establishment with very polite but dishonest waitstaff.

We attended a bat mitzvah party here recently Kids had a great time downstairs in the very cool Underwater Lounge altho they felt like they were held prisoner when trying to come up to see us, their parents. We were around 30 adults seated in the back of the restaurant, in back of the bar and outside the Roebling Room. One waitress was assigned to serve 30 people drinks and food. There was a pre-set menu that provided lots of good choices. The waitress, Bianca, was rude and obnoxious to the guests, at least at my end of the table. Service was extremely slow - it took about two hours after being seated to be served our main course. The waitress went missing at times which delayed us even more than the notion of having one waitstaff for such a large party. To top the evening off, the restaurant had set up drapes held up on two poles to separate the bar area from where we were sitting - lots of people sitting and standing at the bar watching the basketball game when all of a sudden, the drapes fell and a pole hit one of the bat mitzvah guests on the head. The manager, also a bit rude, came over and inquired if the patron was okay and whether an ambulance should be called then walked away and never came back to check. Not good management for sure. In the meantime the waitress came over to one of the young adults, an almost 19 year old and tried to insist that she go down to sing happy birthday. The young woman, concerned for the patron, wished to remain upstairs. Words were exchanged, mostly by the waitress which ended in the waitress telling this young woman she needed an attitude adjustment. Hmmm, whatever happened to the customer is right. The manager never returned to see how the patron was, was defensive and rather obnoxious when the mother of the young woman voiced her concern about how her daughter was treated and basically complained to the hostess about her guests. While the food was decent, the atmosphere was toxic. We will not be returning to the Water Street Restaurant.

I enjoyed myself so much the dinning experience & the after hour lounge........They get a A+ from me......will definitely be going back!!!!!

Avoid at All Costs – I have never felt the need to write a negative review of any restaurant until I came here. I'll start with the positives: the food was pretty good for the price. Then come the negatives. We came here after a show at St. Ann's Warehouse, so naturally things were a bit busy as the crowd came in. They gave us water fairly quickly, but it took another ten minutes before we were able to flag down a waiter, who seemed annoyed that we asked for service and responded with a rather terse "I'll let your server know." That server, an aloof, bearded 20-something, came around fifteen minutes later, offering no apology for the fact that we'd been sitting there for half an hour without someone even taking a drink order. To this point, it was pretty much standard poor service. But the cherry on the cake came another half hour later, when the waiter finally came with our drinks. I'd ordered a Manhattan - nothing confusing about it. The server proceeded to spill half the drink from the shaker onto the table and floor (which he never cleaned up). When he'd finished pouring the glass about two-thirds full, he said (and as unbelievable as it is, this is a quote) "If you're still thirsty, you can sip up what's left on the floor," and walked away. I had to call him back to point out that this was not reasonable treatment concerning a ten dollar drink, and he begrudgingly brought it back to the bar to top it off. Fifteen minutes later, another server came by to let us know our appetizers would be there shortly (pretty much everyone else who came in after us had food already). Another fifteen minutes later, a server brought us our appetizers and entrees together, again failing to apologize for failing to abide by bare-minimum restaurant etiquette. At no point did anybody working at the restaurant apologize or try to make up for the absolutely abysmal service. I recommend that anybody considering this place go anywhere else - I'm sure there are plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood where they won't treat you like the scum on the bottom of their shoe.

Total Upset!! – lthough this place did look nice and was very near the Brooklyn Bridge, The service has yet to live up to its reputation. My best friend decided to have her wedding party celebrate their wedding brunch at this location because she had a Brooklyn bridge themed wedding. She had read good reviews. However, things always happen at weddings with a few delays so the party arrived about 45 min late to the restaurant. The manager came to the table and pulled the bride's sister and in front of all the guests let her know that this party has till 4pm due to another reservation and that he needed the bill to be paid. Firstly, the place was very empty and we were not savages to be spoken to in such a manner. The wedding party consisted of only 15 people and we were a quiet group. Not to mention the wait staff, although they were nice people, we had to search for them to be served because most of the time they were out of sight! Upon the bride's arrival the manager instead of welcoming her told her that we had to be out by 4pm and make sure we tip his staff well. HOW RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS!! The bride and groom's day was ruined by this establishment. They had no appetite from how unwelcome they felt. The bride was in tears and the wedding party was left with a sour taste as we were rushed out of the establishment. The only reason they even got a star was because the food was actually good. I would not recommend anyone to go to this place unless something is done about their management staff. What should have been the happiest day of their lives turned out to be the biggest failure. I am very upset to see such great people have to go through this. We had to cut the cake back at the bride's mother's house in New Jersey because all she wanted to do was get back to where she knew she would always be welcomed.

What a find! A friend & I stumbled on this charming restaurant & bar right under the Brooklyn Bridge last night and we had a GREAT time. When I first saw a huge bar with more beer selections than I could count I thought, OK, it's a bar and burger joint. So we weren't expecting an epicurian meal of any sort. But we still ordered Coconut Shrimp & an Eggplant Napolean appetizer - which were amazing! The shrimp was in a pineapple chutney that I could have taken home by the jar.

So far, so good. For dinner I had sea scallops with mushroom risotto and my buddy had stuffed chicken with sundried tomatoes, capers and mozzerella, smothered in tomato sauce and we both loved it.

For dessert we had the house special called murder by chocolate, it was a chocolate mousse cake with a big knife sticking out of it and raspberry sauce -- and I swear, it DID look like someone was murdered..and I could see why...if they tried to take it from me, I would have murdered someone too! It was THAT good.

I took a bunch of pix so you guys can all see what a great find this is. I also got a look at the Valentines Day menu. It looks great with things like champagne chicken and lobster ravioli...and if I didn't have to go back to Miami today I would have made a reservation. The staff is cool and attentive and they were telling me about a disco party coming up on the 19th, so I took a picture of that too...who knew Brooklyn could be so cool? I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

Just OK – The wait staff are pretty nice. The drinks are usually great and the service has always been prompt. The meals are not always good. Burgers are great. However, one evening my friend and I ordered the calamari appetizer and steaks for dinner. The steaks were tough and the calamari was chewy and undercooked. We were not charged for the food, but it makes for an awkward situation. It will be a while before we go back.

BAD Food – Ok, so me and my boyfriend like to go out once a week for dinner to some nice place.. We enjoy all kinds food, would it be American, Italian, French or Asian Fusion.. So, last Saturday, we decide to chill in Dumbo and try the Water Street Restaurant...WOW, what a mistake.. First, we order appetizers.. I order Fried Calamari...it was extremely chewy.. then I ask the waitress if they can change shrimp in shrimp languini to some other seafood..she tells me no...as the shrimp is already mixed in.. then I order a side order of onion rings which they dont have that day.. I finally ordered crab cakes with french fries.. My G_D..those crab cakes look like beef patties..that's how much they were overcooked..and the fries..you could have broken a tooth while eating them..So I sent the food back which I have never done before and we left.

The only good thing, I can say about this place is that they are drinks were not bad.. We had some black cherry drink that was good.. Don't go there.. Food is pre cooked..
