Best haircut ever! – I have to start off by saying that I used to hate getting my hair cut. I felt like I never ended up getting what I asked for and it always took a few moths for my hair to grow out into something I didn't loathe. Well, that's until my friend recommended Grasshopper Salon and Elisa as a stylist. I have to say hands down she is the best! She was patient and receptive when I explained what I wanted (and what I didn't want). We had great conversation throughout the cut which put me at ease and she checked in multiple times to make sure I was okay with the length. I'm not sure what was better, the great cut of the amazing head massage. I have never received so many compliments on my hair. Elisa = phenomenal.
HUNG is 'da' man. – I don't think there's anything that Hung could not do or fix. He turned my disastrous color and cut (from another salon) into beautiful, shiny, vibrant long locks that are full of movement. My new do's got a few double takes on the street. Thanks to Hung, I feel sexy again.
NICOLA H. IS THE BEST!!! – Nicola has been my stylist for over 5 years and I have been very happy the entire time. It all started when I went through a "long hair" phase and needed a stylist who had experience working with long-haired men. We had a great consultation and it has been great ever since. Nicola is very easy going and happy to work with you to get it right! One of the things I really appreciate is that she finishes the cut AFTER she dries your hair...
I have referred numerous people to her and they have all been very happy as well. The other great thing about this salon is the "clean-up" that is included between haircuts. It is a great way to keep the style looking good for a little longer between haircuts.
Best stylist! – I recently went to Grasshopper and Anna was my stylist, she was great!
I just moved to San Francisco from New York and I had a great stylist there, and was worried I wouldn't find someone as good here in San Francisco. I was wrong!
I Google-d Grasshopper, and got Anna as a stylist.
I wasn't so sure at first because she is a little on the quiet side, but she listened to everything I had to say, was very professional, and sweet. She did an awesome job. I hate to say it, but she's better than my previous stylist!
I love this salon! – When I first moved to the city 10+ years ago I tried just about every hair salon with horrible results - stylists who ignored what I asked for, gave me a poodle-like cut (seriously!), etc. - before stumbling on Grasshopper. On my first visit my stylist Hareg (the absolute best!) took the time to listen to what I wanted and then before she started cutting explained what she wanted to do and how it'd look. I've been going back to her ever since (6+ years) and have been sooo happy with the results. I constantly get compliments about my cut and I love how low maintenance it is. She's a wiz with highlights and coloring (especially covering up the grays - no easy feat with black hair) that makes it look like I was born with perfect hair. I can't recommend this place or Hareg enough!
Best salon EVER – I have no idea how many salons I have been to over the years, searching for one that I actually enjoyed going to. Now that I have found Grasshopper, I cannot imagine going anywhere else. Truly the only place of its kind I've ever found (and I have truly searched). My hair has so much more health, style, color and is so much easier to care for than it ever was, I have to give up the idea that I have problem hair. Really, this place has changed my life, changed my story, changed the expectation of misery and degradation of going to a city salon. They all have heart, style, kindness, care, excellent expertise in cut, color and everything else. Really good people - real, down to earth and at the same time way stylish and good looking. I love this place. They do an excellent job every time - I'm never less than very happy and uplifted when I leave. My best friend from Boston went there and says it's better than any she's tried there.
Jeneill, Jarrod, Hung, ... any and all I have watched or have worked on me are great. I can't say enough great stuff about Grasshopper Salon!
Nicola is amazing! – Nicola has been my hairdresser for the past few years now. I was astonished with the dramatic change in my hairstyle after she worked magic with her scissors. It was an unbelievable transformation orchestrated by her amazing technique and exceptional patience.
I have never had any complaints while Nicola has cut my hair. I always leave the salon feeling invigorated and satisfied - to say the least.
Supercuts is done for. Never will I venture to another salon. Grasshopper is the all-star of hair salons, and Nicola is their MVP.
Relaxing and Rejuvenating – I forgot how good a haircut can feel, but I was reminded when I went to Grasshopper Salon. I was referred by a friend of mine to see a specific stylist, he had no openings so I got in on a last minute cancellation with Susan. It has been a month since my cut and my hair is still feeling good. I have received so many compliments from friends and strangers. Next time I see Susan I am going to try some color, I trust her hands.
If it weren't for Grasshopper I'd still look like this!!!! – When I first came to Grasshopper years ago I had just moved to the city from Santa Cruz...and completely looked the part (not good-see pic-EEK!)
Thankfully the stylists at Grasshopper whipped me into shape and made me look gorgeous and maybe even a little bit cool (maybe)!
Over the years I've seen almost every stylist in the place, and can I please tell you: they freaking ROCK--the salon owner, Jeneill (thank you for creating this place!), puts a HUGE emphasis on education, no matter how experienced the stylist, and it shows at every level.
I've never reviewed until now because, though I've always LOVED Grasshopper, I took it for granted....but since I've recently moved to London, I'm a total mess without them...in fact, I wait to get my hair done until I come home to visit!!!
Now I have to give a big shout out to SEAN, my latest style genius (In fact I've been awake since before 5am with jet lag and can't stop thinking about how awesome my hair looks after yesterday)! Not only did Sean make my hair look effing amazing, he made me feel comfortable, and honestly pretty special--and I don't think this is his "stylist personality", you can tell he's genuinely an excellent person.
So thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Grasshopper, for dragging me out of a pretty sad, yet hilarious hair time of my life. And thank you Sean, you are already a star, simply brilliant!
Best Salon...EVER! – When my hairstylist (who I've been seeing since I was a junior in high school) told me he was moving to Las Vegas, I began to panic. I was set on flying to Vegas every few months for a cut until I asked a friend for a recommendation on a new stylist. She told she saw Melanie at Grasshopper and the rest is history.
I've been seeing Melanie for quite a few years now and my only regret is that I didn't find her sooner. I've seen Melanie for haircuts, color and conditioning treatments and my hair has always turned out perfect. I haven't tried any of the other stylists, but I'm sure they are great. I have friends who see other stylists here and they have nothing but good things to say about them. The assistants are excellent as well. The salon also carries fantastic product lines, such as Kerastase and Shu Uemura.
I have told several friends about Grasshopper and they have all been happy with their hair. If you come here, you will not be disappointed.
