Be careful with these guys. I left dropped my laptop and quite honestly i left it with them longer than 30 days since i traveled. When I got back, and i wanted to pick up my laptop, i'm being told that they can't find my hard drive but i can keep my empty broken laptop. The guy said they could have used it for parts or lost it.

All these 5 star reviews better be from their friends and family. I've called this place over 10 times because of my family fotos in the hard drive, they don't seem to care. I luckily spoke to Arthur this morning and he told me to call back tomorrow.

Highly recommended – VERY PLEASED! These guys were great to deal with. I brought my iPhone 4s in to replace a cracked screen, not sure what to expect, but I needed it repaired quickly and most of the reviews here seemed pretty positive. Frankly, I was a little concerned when I got there and found that it wasn't a typical storefront operation, but located within an office building. Any concerns quickly subsided once I got up to the 12th floor and met Matt, Peggy and the rest of the staff. They were very professional, repaired my phone while I waited and got me on my way. Matt, in particular, bent over backwards to ensure that my repair was taken care of as quickly as possible and that I was happy with the work. Many thanks to the staff at LaptopMD. I would recommend them to anyone!

wow they broke more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – This complaint is against LAPTOPMD, A LAPTOP/COMPUTER REPAIR CENTER LOCATED IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN. I took my girlfriend’s SONY VAIO Z570 LAPTOP, which has original price tag of $1999 from 2009(have receipt for it), for a repair. THE LAPTOP INITIALLY HAD POWER ISSUE. THE LAPTOP WOULD NOT TURN ON, AND IF IT GETS TURNED ON, IT TURNS OFF ITSELF. I repaired broken electronics and sold for cheap so I know how electronics work. It was mostly for hobby and I felt bad for things being trashed which only needed minor part replacement. However, the laptop was out of my reach. I took it apart and was not confident enough to fully take it apart and repair. I knew it was a motherboard issue and maybe need a replacement. I look up online and saw good reviews for LAPTOPMD. I called for an estimate and they told me I would have to take in the laptop for them to put an estimate on. I took it on 1/31/2012(Tuesday) around 4PM and they told me they would have to open it up and see what is inside and call me back in couple of day. No phone calls until Friday. I called them at the end of the day and they said they were in full schedule and not able to fully diagnose the problem. I finally got a call back couple of hours ago saying it might be a keyboard cable that connects to motherboard is shorting (technical term for bad flow of electricity) and need a replacement. The total of $275. According to them, the cable itself was $100, which I think was exaggerated. I know it’s an expensive laptop so I gave them a go. Got a call back a week after that saying it is all repaired. So my girlfriend went to pick up and issue wasn’t solved. The laptop had the same issue and they told me they need to send it out to a "different location" for better diagnosis since they cannot fix it. Since they didn’t call me back in a week, so I called them back and they told me to replace the motherboard and the cost will be whopping $400. I told them NO, put back old stuff and give back the laptop but they insisted to fix it. So they brought down the price to $350. I gave them a go and waited for it. Waited for 2 weeks, no phone call. I called them and the parts didn’t arrive. I asked them if it is new parts and the answer was absolutely "yes", even the laptop was 2.5 years old. The same day, they called me to pick up the laptop and the result was the issue was fixed. However, they broke CD/DVD drive, keyboard does not sit properly, broke some piece of plastic on the side, and has a different CPU inside it, one side of the speaker does not work, and fan noise. VERY SLOPPY JOB. I went in the next day and confronted them and they went into a little room to discuss and told me to stay away from the room since I was sitting very close to that room. They were discussing for about three minutes and guy named Matt came to talk to me. He told me that it is a delicate machine and they have NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED. I asked them questions and their response was I DO NOT KNOW. I asked Matt again if the parts were new. Matt told me it is both new/refurbished. I laughed. Their decision; $50 discount. I asked them to open it up again to see what is wrong and they refused. It is still under 30 day warranty but they refused to even take a look at it. I was very upset and just took $50 and left.

New problem:

1. DVD drive does not work. It vibrates hard and scratches CDs. It never happened before the repair.

2. Fan noise is noticeably louder than before. Maybe thermal paste was not applied correctly or loose screw during motherboard installation.

3. HDD light, Wireless light, battery charging light, cap lock light, scroll lock light, number lock light do not work at all.

4. The CPU installed in Z570 model is intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P9500 prior to the repair. However, it is showing as P8400 after the repair, which OEM price is at least $100 cheaper.

5. Left side speaker is dead.

6. Chipped of plastics on left side of the laptop.

Best Laptop Help Ever! – I'm very appreciative of LaptopMD for the outstanding service they provided. My laptop had multiple, troubling problems, preventing me from using it at all. The wonderful people at LaptopMD completely solved everything, and they did it quickly. And they were very kind and patient, allowing me to stay there for some time so that I could check over everything to make sure all my files were still there and safe. I am very grateful for LaptopMD, and I will highly recommend them to everyone I can.

Outstanding – This place is the only place in the entire city capable of replacing keys that have popped out of a laptop keyboard. Every other place I called acted confused, told me it was impossible, or suggested I replace the entire keyboard. These guys replaced my laptop keys on two separate occasions within minutes, for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend!

Outstanding service. phone estimate for cost and time to repair cracked iphone screen. Matt Ham, director of operations was extremely engaged and eager to help and did exactly what he promissed. Very upstanding, customer focused business. These guys are a real find.

Not all it's cracked up to be – I took my laptop here as I read all the good reviews about the fast service. I needed it in 4 days as I was leaving on a trip. They tell me no prob, they'll have it ready in about 2 days. I get a call 3 days later saying that they need to order the part and it will take over a week to get here and I also need to bring in a charger for them to test it. I'm like are you kidding me? How do you not have a charger for the laptop and how do you not tell me this before?

I go away on my trip, with no laptop, which was the whole reason I brought it to them in the first place so I could have it on my trip. When I come back they deliver me the laptop and this is when it really gets ugly. The right mouse button on the laptop was stuck in place and lopsided, as a result I could not press it. The reason I brought the laptop to them was to fix the power supply, so why was my mouse button out of place. I tell them about this and they tell me, oh no it must have been like that when you brought it to us. They then accuse me of making it up. Why would I make that up? Wouldn't I tell you about that when I first brought you the laptop so that you could fix that too?

After arguing with them for a few minutes and swearing that my laptop button was never broken before they take it in the back and fix the button, well not quite, it's still out of place but you can press it somewhat. They then tell me that I had some food stuck underneath the button. Food? I've never eaten near my laptop once as I use it for business. That was either a blatant lie or they must be eating while they're working on laptops. A few months later the power supply broke again on my laptop. My right mouse button which was perfect before I brought it to them is still lopsided. Never again with these jokers, never again!

Super Fast Repair II – These guys are AWESOME. My laptop crashed and other computer repair shops wanted to charge me $125 just to diagnose the problem. LaptopMD provided free diagnostic testing in 90 minutes then got my laptop working again an hour later . . . for $125. Amazing. There's no reason to go anywhere else ever again.

Super fast repair – My laptop was sounding like a jet engine, so I dropped it off at LaptopMD Tuesday night. They installed a new fan the next day, and I picked it up that evening. Very happy with the quick service, although the price seemed high.
