I do not recommend Sheldon's Nursery.
I recently moved and thought I would support the local nursery. I purchased a large vine, but it arrived with the main stake broken. The driver told me it collapsed during delivery and bent hard over at the bottom trunk. I needed something with support. I also did not want to worry about the trunk being cracked (see previous customer feedback on lack of return policy). When I returned to the nursery for reimbursement and explained my concerns to the cashier, she called the owner for approval but was laughing and shook her head, as if I was doing something wrong. I told her I did not find anything funny about the situation. She was out of line and did not apologize.
Several days later I visited the nursery and spoke to the owners, to see if perhaps they could put in a new stake, keep it for a while, and if the plant did alright I would be happy to buy it in the spring.
The response was less that I expected. I was told that putting in a new stake would cause the roots to grow (not sure about that given the possibility of the root being damaged by a large stake), and that the plant would most likely be sold before that. They were not interested in making me happy regardless of the high cost of the plant and my willingness to work with them.
I passed on that I was sorry that this could not be worked out. Prior to leaving I also politely mentioned the rude employee experience as I thought they should know. I was then told "Get out", and "never come back again", and was also threatened that "I should have been charged a restocking fee!" Imagine being charged for something that is not your fault. How ridiculous. I have shopped at Mesquite Nursery, Loews and Home Depot for years, and this would never happen to me there. So much for supporting this small business.
STAY AWAY!!! HIGH PRICES, LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Bad place to shop for trees – I bought 2 trees and the salesperson told me to water it every day with a dripping tube, I did. Turn out to be the tree has some infection for brown germs already. I had the trees for 4 days, went back to ask for exchange.
They told me that once the trees are paid, they are your own problem. There is no customer support. I called them and they told you once you paid for it. No matter what it was your bad luck.
Do not shop there. You will regret it. Go to Home Depot or Lowell's, they let you exchange the trees within 3 months. This place, is really bad.
Specializing in unusual, colorful plants and trees to make your landscaping stand out. – The Scene
Large cacti and trees surround the parking lot and perimeter of the property. Inside, you'll find an array of native plants, as well as non-native plants that thrive in the desert. Owners Steven and Sue Sheldon are self-taught horticulturists with a passion for adding color to what can be otherwise drab desert landscaping.
The Sheldons import plants from Africa, Mexico and Madagascar, among other places. They tout their aloes in particular, which bloom in red, orange and yellow stalks that shoot up 10 feet high or more. You'll also find unique copper fountains, and pottery imported from Germany, Italy, Mexico and Vietnam. A local artist makes birdfeeders from gourds you'll only find here.
