the WORST school ever – If you are transgender do NOT even bother with this place as a student. tim the owner, does NOT like ts people. the rules will be strictly enforced on transgender students while others literally get into fights and throw things at one another. VERY BIASED
What's with all the negative reviews????????????? – I am sooooooooo tired of seeing negative reviews and complaints about this Academy of Beauty! I have been a client at this beauty school for 18 yrs. I have watched women, men, children, teenagers, clients old and young walk out of that place looking like they just walked out of a beverly hills salon! Unfortunately sometimes things can go wrong because, well, they are LEARNING!!! The reason why this place is so inexpensive is because we are VOLUNTEERING to basically let an inexperienced, not licenced student in training PRACTICE on us!! Why didnt that blushing bride from 2 wks ago with the beautiful makeup and gorgeous updo hairstyle compliment the student or write something on this review page?? Or that blonde that was so rude and demanding to the student who gave her flawless highlights comment on this review? Because its all great when we get what we want for nothing, but when we dont, we have a cow!!! Grow up people! If you dont have the, "its only hair" attitude, then you dont have any business walking in there nor do you deserve to receive the amazing services and work that they provide!!
CHEAP AND BAD – Last year I went there and was great!
My hair is curly and I wanted to have it straight so the price was nice and the place was ok.
Then I went again and one of the ladys that work there ask me if I could be a model/volunteer for one class.
So I paid, sat down in front of 20 girls and she did my hair. I can't exactly recall the name of what she was doing but was some kind of extreme-straightining (but not the japanese one).
A couple days later, my hair was HORRIBLE. It was not straight, wasn't curly, wasn't pretty. And it smelled bad. I went back there and the teacher that did my hair came to my serious and did ask me "What are you doing here?" (And I remember those days when the costumer was always right! But not there!!!)
The another teacher - an angry mexican lady - was speaking in spanish so then everyone else there could understand, saying that "was obvious that I didn't take care of my own hair" and stuff like that and in the end they tried to fix my hair - but didn't really helped.
I will never again put my feet there and suggest you to not do the same.
ps: after that I was stupid enough to straight my hair somewhere else for my birthday and after I washed was completely damaged so I stopped doing that. Now it's curly again, but not nice as before!
cheap service, but no glamour – my friend took me here and I'm surprised by the cheap price. Hair treatment that usually cost me $40 at a salon is only $10 here. It's the ones where you under a dryer after your hair is wrapped with deep conditioner. Sometimes the wait could be long depending when you go. We went on a saturday and waited about 30 min. The place is a bit messy, and towels are a bit worn, but they wash everything from what I can tell. my friend suggested not to get anything permanent like a haircut, just maintenance jobs. Good idea. I would return when i have time. Unfortunately, it's not open on Sunday.
