No Respect for their Patrons- AVOID – I was so excited to go for model color. Waited 1hr and 15 min- no one even asked me if i would like a glass of water When the colorist was finally available I reminded her that I wanted dramatic color-for a vibrant red with blond highlights. I had sent an email with a photo of what I wanted prior to scheduling the appt. The colorist made it clear that she didn't find that attractive and that she didn't want to do it. If I was a client, that might be different I was told. I was also told that they only do natural color, not creative color. That is all well and fine and I am all about businesses specializing, however in my email I sent a photo of dramatic, contrasty NOT natural looking hair color.
Knowing that she did not like that and that licari didn't do creative, she should have told me I was not a fit. She then brought over someone else, I was told told that what I wanted was crass. After 1.5 hrs hours of waiting in the salon and many insulting comments, I asked her why she had me come in if I was not a fit for their aesthetics, she said that she wanted to see me in person? I have been doing model color in Manhattan for the last 7 years, I have been to cutler, Vidal sasson, to name a few and no one has ever made me feel bad about my choice to have dramatic looking hair. In fact, colorists who are about to go on the floor are thrilled at the chance to do fun, creative hair.
Licari had no respect for my time or my preferences. I hope that this review saves many people their time by avoiding Licari. They are many great Salons in town who treat their clients with respect. Don't believe the hype.
They are THE BEST! – Have been a client for over 15 years. Wouldn't dream of changing. The staff is professional, courteous and really knowledgeable.
From color to keratin to cuts - they simply are the best!!!!
I went into this salon a little nervous because I'm always a little (lot) nervous letting someone new do something to my hair. I had watched Louis Licari "ambush" people on the Today Show and every single time thought they looked so much better. I was in New York from South Carolina to help my son move into an apartment as he's attending NYU and figured I'd let Louis ambush my hair. :-) My hair was too dark and too red for my liking. Since it had started graying about a year ago, I felt I had lost the true color I liked (my natural plus highlights) in the process of trying to cover up the gray. I didn't try this myself, of course. I had been visiting a salon. I told Louis I just wasn't happy with my hair and asked him what he thought. I wasn't about to tell him what to do with my hair color. He knows better than I do. He proceeded to work on my hair and the end product was how I envisioned my hair and what I thought my hair was (but better!) when I was so much more happy with it -- before the graying started. How he could look at my hair and come up in his head and perform the process it would take to give me exactly what I wanted is beyond me. I know it's why he's thought of so well and why he's on The Today Show, styling celebrity hair, etc. I ended up with a base color I LOVE and two highlighting colors I LOVE. As for Louis himself, he was very nice and personable and I was glad to meet him. I also liked Natalie very much -- she shampooed my hair, conditioned it, etc. She did a lot of work and was so sweet the entire time. My haircut/style was done by Rich (very amiable person!) and thank you Rich for not wanting to chop all my hair off -- and for giving me such a beautiful and sexy style. It's exactly what I wanted. My entire experience was so nice today -- from the water w/lemon, to the cookies, to the friendliness of everyone I met. This is definitely something I want to do again. It's so nice to love my hair again. My 25 year old daughter was with me in the salon today and she said, "Mom, can I get a color/haircut there for my birthday as my present this year?"
Louis Licari Salon – Louis Licari is a trained painter and his eye for color comes thru in the hair selection he choices for each client. I highly recommend his services. His salon staff/co-workers all very friendly.
best hair colorists in USA – I went to see Yolanda, and finally I got the colorist that listens, care and such a great job. That is all I have to say
Amazing Colorists – I have only been here twice but i never ran out crying.... The reception area could use to a bit of change(MORE CUSTOMER SERVICE) but the colorists are awesome The 2 times i have been was once with a girl named Kazoo sweet friendly lady but my favorite was with this woman i believe her name was agnes. She actually listened to me gave me what i had wanted without making me look like one of those nyc tramps. she had a few clients while working with me so i didnt feel like one but over all i was happy with my serivce and would recommend both ladies
Highly Over Rated Salon – The staff is rude, overcrowded, overrated, old equipment. The desk service awful and it changes every month from bad to worse, over all highly over rated place that tries to take advantage of old glory, pathetic!!!!!!!!!
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! – I have been to Louis Licari several times before and I have always been very happy. Yesterday I went for highlights and a cut and after a $400 bill I left in tears. While I was having my highlights done my colorist was also working on at least 3 other people and she was flustered and running around. She was friendly but didn't listen to what I wanted with my higlights and I was very specific! Then, when I got my hair cut the stylist DID NOT LISTEN. I said simply one inch off the back and one inch off of my bangs. He chopped at least 2 inches and put short layers and thinned out my already thin hair! I HATE IT! When I noticed all the hair he was cutting I asked him what he was doing and he acted annoyed he told me to relax it would be fine. Needless to say I will NEVER return....
Best of the best haircolor – Best haircolor, I haven't been able to find a better color anywhere in New York, London or Paris. My colorist is Yolanda, the best professional I've ever known, if you try her, she'll listen to you and you'll leave the salon as happy as I do each time that I go to do my hair. Her price for the quality? really good and fair. Her character and behavior? excellent.
