Bad service, rude management – After getting seated, our drink order taken, received our drink, just ok, waited 25 minutes for appetizers that never came. Waitress came over with taco our daughter order and explained to us she gave away our order to another table and they had to remake ours. She walks away, never seen again. We had to get our daughters napkin ourselves. We waited, waited and waited no food. Called manager over to tell him how unhappy we were. He said he was aware of the problem and they were making our food. We said "And that's it, that’s all you’re going to say or do?" He says, “What do you want me to do, I said we were sorry?" We explained normally you ask if there is something else they can get for us to eat or a drink, comp part of the order, something". He states, “First of all you don't tell us what to do and I said we were sorry". Our jaws it the table in disbelief. So after picking our jaws up off the table, we got up and walked out. That man should be fired. I know I would never want a manager like that representing my company.
Worst Restaurant Ever. – Absolute horrible experience. Food was bad. Paid 23 dollars for the cold sampler that consisted of bad oysters, old sashimi, old shrimp and plastic wrapped saltine crackers. Told the waiter that the oysters tasted funny, and he told us that it is because it is the type of the oyster. He comped us with two lousy shrimps. Literally, two shrimps. The two shrimps had tails that were turning black because it is so old. The decor is really outdated too. Bad food, don't go there. Better to just cook ramen at home.
Sacramento's most awful food? – My friend ordered trout. When it arrived she tasted it and said that it seemed "off." I took a small taste and agreed. We called the server over and traded it for a small bowl of chowder. I had the red snapper vera cruz.
It was unremarkable, if not conspicuously bad. By the end of the meal we were both feeling very queasy. My friend paid for the meal and notice that they had not deducted the price of the trout. We were both much too engrossed in thoughts of painful nausea to demand a correction although now I wish that we had. She paid $18, more or less, for a baked potato, some sliced tomatoes and a litlle bit of chowder. Neither of us will ever eat there again under any circumstances. Caveat emptor.
Cafeteria food lovers, come here – The quality of food is on par with a cafeteria - which is NOT a good thing, especially for seafood. Service was incredibly slow - which was okay, could have been an off night. But the food was absolutely terrible. Got fish, potato, vegies, fried calamari. Fish tasted not good, potato was really old and tasted off (seriously, how do you mess that up), and the calamari were not tastey and extremely greasy. The only thing this place got right was their bread. Oh yeah, and the restaurant's ambience is kind of off - they stuck a whole bunch of themes together, thinking it would look good. It's not. The food's not. Don't go here. I just signed up for a CitySearch acct just to place this review, in hopes no one else has to experience what I had to.
Poor Seafood and Service – This was a bad dinning experience. Our server was to busy talking on a cell phone and other employees to give any service at all. The steak was served cold and the lobster was cold, the drawn butter was cold. I had to send the food back and have it re-cooked. The Manager did take half off the bill. It is a place I will not go back to.
Good food – I'm not an expert on seafood or anything but this place was really good. I went with a party of 12 and we were treated with hospitality. The food was great, the menu was tempting and I will definitely go back to try more items on the menu.
not up to par – I've eaten at several Monterey Bay Canners Restaurants & have had great dining experiences. So it was with great anticipation that I was looking forward to eating at a different location. Unfortunately, the quality and presentation of the food was not at all comparable to their other locations. Overall the food was of poor quality. I do not plan to eat at this location again. Ever.
