The phone # is disconnected.. Is this place for real? The phone is disconnected. I have been looking for a good restaurant and so far have not located any.
A ticket into the world of authentic Indian food--just ignore the cheesy wallpaper..
The Scene
This little hole-in-the-wall is rarely bustling with customers. Maybe it's because you'll miss the restaurant if you blink while driving down J Street. Or maybe people are put off by the shabbiness of the interior. Whichever the case, it's their loss, because the food makes up for the bad location, pink flowery wallpaper and mismatched chairs.
The Food
There's traditional Indian food like samosas (meat- or veggie-filled turnovers), tandoori (meat marinated in yogurt, herbs and lemon) and--get this--pizza. India Restaurant is also home to Pizza Place. This could be a good thing if you love Indian food, but have friends in your party who don't.
You'l want to eat here everyday. The service is okay, but the food is to die for. This spot is one that you may be taken aback by at first glance, but it is really worth wondering on in. The food is excellent. Occassionally they will turn on some music, really nice indian selection. But never mind all that because once you take your first bite you'll be transported into a salivary paradise.
