Bar is nice, food is ify – The only veggie dish on the menu was a veg enchilada. Too much pepper and not very substantial.
Whatever this is, It's not good – This restaurant is so bad it prompted me to sign up to write a review.
The food is "mexican" to those who have never eaten anywhere else. Ceviche in ketchup? The tri-colored chips tasted and looked like they came from the lobby of a layover hotel in the midwest.
It's expensive for what you get. The service is slower than words can describe (literally 30 minutes to bring us our change--after we asked what was taking so long) and the sangria tastes like "jungle juice" from college.
great mojitos! – chango chopped salad was absolutely amazing; red snapper was a bit dry, but the 3 bean regout and the broth were great!
mojito with a meal is a must!
Mexican? really? – What a disappointment. It's hard to screw up chips and salsa, but this place did it (more like blocks of salt, not tortilla chips). The food was otherwise mediocre. Oh yeah, even though we sat at the bar and the place was empty, it was like pulling teeth to get our "i'm too sexy for this world" waitress/bartender's attention. The rest of the waitstaff made me feel guilty for taking up their time by asking for water or even the check. This place will be out of business soon.
Mimosas!!! – This place is a great brunch place, especially if you have a group of people. With the champagne flowing and the food above average, this makes Sundays so much fun!
Best Brunch in the city – This is by far my favorite brunch in the city. For about $10-$15 an entree, you get yummy Mexican brunch, tasty bread and all the mimosas you can handle (or even more than you can handle!)... as a bonus they come in cool flavors like strawberry, mango, guava and passionfruit. Try them all... twice! And of course they call it a Mariachi brunch for a reason. Wepa!
Good food and amazing Brunch! – Good food and the brunch is the best value in NYC if you like to drink. Also good people watching scene!
Great Neighborhood Spot – I live in the neighborhood and have eaten at Chango many times in the past two years. There is lively music, killer margaritas and surprisingly good food (fav is grilled skirt steak). My only complaint is happy hour ends at 7pm, just as Im getting off work, so I can never take advantage of the drink specials. But the weekend brunch is great all you can drink bloody marys and mimosas.
Not For the Burrito Crowd – Interesting combinations, bold flavors and great fun. I've be coming for 2 years and will continue.
The "reviewer" below obviously mistook Chango for the snack counter at Yankee stadium. I have had the "nachos" on several occasions. They are flavorful and Tapas-Like with, really high quality ingredients like mangoes and manchego cheese. The snapper is my favorite dish. Love the drinks too! Mexican junk food lovers should look elsewhere.
Crowded and Colorful – This place was rocking on a Thursday nite, happy hour margies were delicious, food appetizers were tasty, but wait staff had trouble getting around the crowd but they did their best for service. The atmosphere was busy and fun if you don't mind the crowds. Food definitely worth the price except guacomole a bit expensive for the size.
