An Alien space ship has landed and turned all the staff into pod people. Not the best customer service, but the appliance section is actually great. Also the food isle selection is a bit different with more chocolate options than other locations.
Not a very happy shopping experience. I asked a worker for some help and he was was even more clueless than I was. If you work there, wouldn't you have SOME inclination as to where certain products are? Anyway I spent about an hour there just trying to see if they had the pc components I was looking for, only to find out they were out of stock. I think i'll stick with Amazon.
I like it! – I see a lot of bad reviews here and I'm not sure why. Frys is great! They have everything you could ever want.
Terrible shopping experience. – Went to get a camera for my daughter's b-day. All the inexpensive cameras mysteriously "weren't charged the night before." (i.e. we don't care about our low end customers)
Found one she wanted and told them they had the same one for cheaper at Costco. After, and I am not exaggerating, 20 minutes they checked and confirmed what I told them. Then the manager told me they would add the shipping cost so the price would be the same as theirs, therefore, no discount. I explained that I had seen the price at the Costco and not online, but the manager cooly told me too bad.
Fine, so I went back to Costco and got the camera with a case and 2GB memory stick included.
Lesson to be learned: unless you like the demeaning thrill of being jerked around, go straight to another store and avoid the EMPTY PROMISES Fry's baits people with.
Fry's in Southbay – Many of the reviews on here for the Southbay Fry's are negative and it's good to know that my experience was not an isolated one.
I found the people to be really rude, and either didn't know or didn't care where anything was. Kind of surprising actually that the vibe is "we don't care about you, leave."
Truly, an awful experience start to finish.
With more than 50,000 electronic items in each store, this high-tech superstore offers one-stop shopping and service for professionals and hobbyists. – In Short
Family-founded in the heart of Silicon Valley in 1985, Fry's has become a staple for technophiles in the Western U.S. Keeping up with the latest technological trends, it offers quality computer hardware and software, audio and video equipment and telecommunication products. Each store, which range in size from 50,000 to 180,000 square feet, decorates the aisles with its own unique theme--from Alice in Wonderland to Atlantis--making every shopping trip a fun experience.
Forget Service . . . remember prices – Freekin' lousy customer service . . . Even worse parking . . . good availability of merchandise and good prices. Forget calling . . . long rings . . . convey info . . . transfer . . . more waiting . . . eventually it rang until I was disconnected. On angry call back I was told they didn't have a camera card in stock . . . although I later drove over and bought one.
Avoid! No customer service! – Fry's has to be the worst store near El Segundo business district. I don't mind the bad parking layout and the dark, dingy warehouse, but I couldnt' stand the customer service there. I tried to buy a camera last week (mar 07), asked the first sales person to check if they have the model I wanted in stock. After 20 minutes didn't hear from the guy again, I stroll around to the other side of the display to find him hiding chatting away with a female coworker. No big deal, I asked a second salesman to check if the item was in stock. After another 20 minutes wait, I saw this guy walking back to the camera display; this sales person had really short term memory spam, because he walked right pass me totally forgot to tell me if the camera was in stock or not and starting pushing merchandise to new customers behind me. I spent 40 minutes hanging out next to the camera display and was victimized by low IQ sales team from Fry's. Highly recomanded for those customers who have no life and who like to be treated like dirt.
Great Prices, Great Selections – I am a fan of Fry's. It is a great place to get low cost comptuer products and they offer weekly sales that can be found in the local papers. The Sepulveda location has a huge selction of computer products. I cannot think of a store that offers better deals than Fry's. Best Buy, CompUSA, and Cicuit City routinely charge more for similar item than Fry's does.
It is best to go once you have an idea of what you are looking for. I agree with the previous reviewer that it is difficult to get someone to help you out in a timely fashion. However, no other place beats Fry's low prices and vast selctions.
The biggest complaint I have about this location is regarding the horribly designed parking lot.. Finding a sapce can be rather difficult during peak hours.
Mindless Automaton treats its customers like dirt. Stay Away! – I know it's hard to avoid going to Fry's, what with their enormous selection and low prices, but come on! They have absolutely NO respect for their customers and someone needs to take a stand. Example: I bought a $150 warranty for my laptop that I bought at Fry's. When the AC adaptor broke i took it to the Fry's service department. They insisted that the laptop had to be sent away to their service center for three months for repairs, even though it was clearly just the AC adaptor that was broken. I even showed them how when you used a different AC adaptor it worked fine. Despite this irrefutable evidence, they insisted the laptop had to be sent off. After two hours of arguing I relented.
Three months later they tell me my laptop is ready. When i came to pick it up, I tried out the AC adaptor AND IT STILL DIDN"T WORK. AFTER 3 MONTHS THEY DIDN'T FIX THE ONLY THING THAT WAS WRONG WITH IT! I complain and they go, "Well I don't understand why they sent the whole laptop away to be serviced. All that was broken was the AC adaptor" AAACK! I tell him to give me a new AC adaptor. All they've got is a universal adaptor and I say fine, that will do. But when I take it home I quickly discover that its not working properly. I call Fry's and tell them what's happened. They say I need to come in so they can see if it's really a problem with the AC adaptor. I say, of course it is. Can you PLEASE just order me a regular AC adaptor from the laptop manufacturer? No, I have to drive down their again. Its not they're policy to order parts from the manufacturer and all they can offer me is another universal adaptor (which won't work) or to service my laptop again (I'm definately not going down that road again). Excuse me?! You are Fry's Electronics! You can't procure the AC adaptor?! Its not like I'm asking for transmission for a '57 Chevy In conclusion, I've now taken three trips to Fry's over the course of three months and accomplished NOTHING. Please don't go here.
