Not My Choice in the Venice Area, No Bang for Buck. – Rascha was pushy and rude, to the point of lying (she is NOT the manager) - I sincerely regret wasting $450 on two nights here. The only vacancy on the boardwalk and still not worth the trouble. Nice room not worth the hassle, or more importantly, the money.
A colorful little inn just blocks from beach fun. – The Scene
Formerly the Mansion Inn, this moderately priced little hotel is a short walk and a few blocks from the marina and the Venice Beach Boardwalk. And for those who are wondering, the boardwalk stands up to its off-the-wall reputation. The hotel is popular with international guests and visiting beach bums and surfers, and is close to one of Venice's more unknown attractions, a section of neighborhood laced with canals, which are the reason for the city's Italian name.
Though modest, rooms are open and airy, with separate bath and vanity areas, high beamed ceilings and vibrant, bohemian-style decor. A bright, small cafe serves as a hub for planning days in the sun while partaking in the complimentary breakfast. A cozy courtyard offers seating and lush plantings, although it's rarely crowded.
Nice Little Inn – We stayed for one night during a road trip from San Diego to San Francisco. There was much to love about this place. The rooms were large and the king sized bed was comfortable. On arrival there was a small coffee mug baring the Inn's name filled with snacks like granola bars and candy as well as complimentary bottled water. The mug is yours to keep and there are no wet bar prices here. The bathrooms was stocked with salon quality Rusk shampoos, conditioners and soaps. These were little extras we did not encounter elsewhere on our trip. The continental breakfast is simple but nice and free!
The location is perfect for getting to the beach. It is walking distance to the Venice Beach Boardwalk and restuarants and driving distance to other beach towns such as santa monica. The only complaint about our room is that is faced Washington Street which is the main street to the Venice Beach Pier and also seems to be a main through street. We were there on a week night and traffic started to get noisy at about 6 a.m. I'd recommend requesting a room that faces the courtyard or away from Washington.
