slippery floor, anti slip protection – ...slippery floor treatment costs less than any slip/fall accident..
Disappointingly rude – I would never return to this hotel. While the rooms are appropriately clean and decorated for the price that you pay, several other nearby hotels: Shutters and Casa del Mar are superior in service. Several members of my family including my parents stayed at Le Merigot for the weekend of my wedding. My family found that it paid over $2500 to be openly insulted and mocked by the staff.
Our family had requested early check-in for the four rooms but had not received it. The hotel offered to hold their luggage for the two hours before check-in while my family attended the Wedding Rehearsal next door. When my family arrived back one hour before check-in, they found their luggage sitting out without anyone watching it. My parents found that they were able to stroll right up to the luggage and take it without anyone noticing. My parents are also in the hospitality business and own a small establishment of their own. This is more or less what they do with the luggage of guests who have not paid for their rooms. My parents were both horrified and greatly insulted. They could not understand why anyone would leave their tux and dress for tomorrow?s wedding out without first calling and notifying them. When my family complained to the staff, the staff was openly disrespectful and mocked my parents for even feeling insulted. Though this may be hotel policy, someone should have apologized to my family for the insult that was inadvertently given. A hotel must have basic respect and consideration its guests? feelings.
This hotel is likely acceptable on most occasions; however, for the most important occasions, I would avoid this hotel. The rooms are average and clean given its cost and the location fine but not the best. There are hotels even closer to the beach at similar prices. Our guests and family who stayed at Shutters and Casa del Mar were thoroughly satisfied with their stays and would return again, which is more than I can say for Le Merigot.
good hotel but... – I stayed in this hotel a few times before. The rooms and service are up to par for the price you are paying. Rooms are big and beds are comfortable. I also like the french restaurant in the basement esp. on weekends when everywhere is crowded in Santa Monica, it is still quiet and cozy.
For a spaholic like me who have tried a lot of 5star hotel spas around the world, the spa is fine and therapists are professional. I particulary love the sweet scent around the spa and the hotel lobby.
However, there's an unfortunate experience that have let me not to ever go back again. My mom's diamond watch was stolen in our room. I feel as though the hotel did not make a big enough effort to help investigate nor show any gesture to compensate the lost of such a valuable item on their property. They did call us and follow up a few weeks after we left the country...
If my mom's watch wasn't stolen there , I would recommend this hotel for people who are planning to stay around Santa Monica.
Tried-and-true luxury right on the beach. – The Scene
For lodging in style with ocean views, this is the place to be. This luxury waterfront property offers a subdued contemporary style and a lovely spa designed to lure those who put pampering high on their list of priorities. The comfortable lobby is done in warm Mediterranean colors, and the multilevel pool area is graced with waterfalls.
Accommodations indulge guests with "Cloud Nine Beds" (Frette linens, down duvets and feather pillows), as well as plush, oversized upholstered chairs and couches and marble baths. Insist on a room with an ocean view and large patio. After a day at the beach, pool or spa, cruise to nearby Marina del Rey for a stroll or shopping at the Third Street Promenade.
THE SPA IS HORRIBLE – This is probably the worst experience in a spa that I have ever had. It started with being escorted through the business center, down a hall and down in the basement - we we stood for 5 minutes without a single person at the desk to check us in.
The amentities were terrible. The staff unproffessionial. All of this at a premium price.
Never use this place - spend your money on a spa were you can relax and ENJOY the experience
TOP NOTCH! – I want to let everyone know when we got back how nice a time we
had at Le Merigot - but got busy with everyday life and lost track. Today, while cleaning
up our travel bags, we saw your name and decided that late is
better than never. We were at Le Merigot for three nights in July. Both
my brother -in-law and I registered our families for 'no-view' rooms
at very favorable rates. When we got there, not only were our rooms
unobstructed, but they were side-by-side and overlooking the pool. The hotel's
staff and facilities were absolute top notch. We traveled the whole coast from SFO
to LAX and while we stayed at some very nice places, Le Merigot, however, was by far
Again, thank you for the wonderful memories and sorry for this delayed recognition.
I'll NEVER go back – There were some nice touches (great bed, fantastic bellpeople and valets, a classic novel by the bedside), but overall Le Merigot was a big disappointment. There were no ocean view rooms available, but the desk assured me that we would have a nice view of the property. We ended up with a view of a constuction site. We complained (which we usually don't do) and we switched rooms for the second night. The new room was, indeed, overlooking a courtyard, but was much smaller, awkwardly layed-out and reeked of smoke. We called the desk and they just didn't seem to care. They offered to "air the room out." Weird. We asked to move back into our original room. So we unpacked, packed, moved, moved again and unpacked. Fun.
Lackluster Spa – They try to bill this as a spa to go out of your way for. Really, do not bother. It's slapped onto the hotel like a glorified afterthought. Downstairs, no windows, sauna's located off locker room. Sub-par.
Executive Producer – I have to say that my experience at Le Merigot was one of the best ever. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The spa was relaxing, my massage was out of this world and the Eucalyptus Steam room cleared all my senses. The rooms were comfortable and the bed was so amazing I don't think I have ever slept so well in my life. I can go on and on about how wonderful my stay at Le Merigot was, instead I would just like to say thank you and I will be back for another visit.
Officially Spoiled – Just two weeks ago, my wife and I had the pleasure of spending a few days of our Honeymoon at Le Merigot, and, so, I wanted to take a moment to thank you and your team for the 5-Star treatment. From the moment we were welcomed by the staff of valet and bellmen, to the care and comfort by the housekeeping team, we were made to feel as though we were the only guest in the hotel that week. These memories will last a lifetime. I must tell you that our 10 day trip include stops at The Ritz-Carlton's, Marina Del Rey & Laguna Niguel. Both rated as among the best in the world. Yet, the personal service provided by the Le Merigot, out shown both. You have all officially spoiled my wife, who every day since has asked when we will be going back! Thank you, Timothy & Michelle
