Good for big groups and cheap drinks. Get a shandy
Best Irish food in Philly – We had so many great meals in Ireland and have been so disappointed by many supposedly Irish restaurants in Philly. (Chicken parmesan, cheesesteaks, where's the Irish food on these menus?) But Tir Na Nog is the closest we've gotten so far. The cottage pie and shepherd's pie are as good as what we had in Dublin. The atmosphere is terrific, too. Great place to have a Guinness with friends and relax. Suggestion for the Tir Na Nog chef: Put some boxy on your menu. Not one single Irish restaurant in Philly has good boxty (crepe-like dishes with savory fillings). You're missing a great chance to shine even more!
Excellent food, great atmosphere – First real date in months, close to museums and city hall-downtown area. I think this place is great for the 20-50 yr old groups. Hip.
Direct from New York, this Irish-inspired bar and restaurant brings New American fare--with an Emerald Isle twinkle--to Philly. – In Short
This vast restaurant and bar, filled with dark wood, TVs, alt rock and Irish staffers, attracts the Phoenix Apertment's fresh-faced residents, along with patrons in button-downs or black leather pants. Just when you thought you could write off the Irish-theme pub fare, the meal arrives: ribbons of smoked salmon layered with light corn pancakes, foie gras and chicken pâté with raisin toast points.
One Stop Shopping – My favorite stop any day of the week. You WILL NOT find better service elsewhere in this city. The staff is attentive and prompt. I never have to ask twice for anything here. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is electric. The location is choice for the quick and needie before you have to hit the train home at Suburban Station. Why go anywhere else?
Great Business Lunch – This is one of my favorites in the city. Traditional Irish Pub fare, always fresh and well presented. I have never been disappointed with any choice.
SERVICE IS LACKING – I went to Tir Na Nog last week to grab some food and drinks with a friend for her birthday. A couple of days later I realized that I could not find my credit card and that I could have left it there. I was obviously panicked and I just wanted to confirm that it was there so I would not have to cancel it. I called Tir Na Nog and told the girl who answered the phone what happened (who couldn't sympathize?). She told me, "Actually, we are really busy right now. Can you call back tomorrow-day..." and hung up. How is that for service?
This place rocks!! – Tir na nog is the best happy hour in town right now.The beer, the food, the service ...everything is awesome. We had a party there a few weeks back and it was just perfect, and very reasonably priced too.I hear lunch is good too but i haven't been. But, 2 thumbs up to everything at 'the nog'.
Nice joint – This place isnt bad if you can deal with crowds. It gets really crowded from happy hour till closing on most friday nights. the waitresses are great if you get a table. the food is a little hoity toity.
relaxed and fun! – This is a terrific pub hangout or a nice dinner at a relaxed restaurant, whichever you prefer. Excellent food and friendly, Irish service.
Great Happy Hour!!!! – Been here for a couple of happy hours. Great, older crowd. Age range is from upper 20's to upper 30's. Didn't notice any "happy hour" drink specials though
