Sonic's cherry limeaids are sooo refreshing during these summer months!
Sonic on 50th st and McDowell – Hi,
I worked as an employee for Sonic Drive-In at 50th st and McDowell in Phoenix Arizona. I noticed there were going to be some serious issues after I got hired and started working.
The manager was intentionally adding a dollar to credit card orders and pocketing it at the end of the night out of the til. I approached him on this and was quickly told that it was 'procedure' and he wasn't doing anything illegal. I went to the police on the matter and am not sure if this is still going on or not.
Also, there were mice or rats and bugs inside the store. The floor was not kept clean during business hours or cleaned at the end of the night. In fact, there was no mop head to clean the floor with. I also brought this up and was told that it was being 'worked on' and yet as I continued to work there nothing was done. You couldn't see the mice as often as the bugs but they wouldn't take the trash out when there was customers there because they were worried that doing it would scatter the wildlife. So trash would build up back where they were supposed to keep the cleaning materials before being taken out late at night.
Whenever they suspected a member of the health department coming, they would go to extreme measures to get the place presentable. I remember being told to put duct tape over holes behind the deep fryer and grill. Which at the time didn't seem like a bad idea until I realized it was for an inspection. They were using Raid inside the store, around food. I didn't like the large amount of extra work I had to do inside the store to keep the manager happy since I was supposed to be working for tips(I made only 4.25 an hour and was supposed to make tips).
Aside from the GM stealing money and being deceitful, the people there were pretty nice and I could work along side of.
I don't think all Sonic's are ran like this and don't think that it's a bad workplace, but this store should be avoided at all costs. I have sent a request to the Better Business Bureau for this place to be looked at. I hope they do.
Going here could honestly be harmful to your health. I transferred out on 7/24/2011 to another store and things are much different, money isn't being stolen from peoples credit cards, there's little or no bugs(and NO mice). Also, I don't do 'odd jobs', I deliver peoples food and prep drinks the whole time.
Retro-outfitted servers deliver burgers, malts and sandwiches to your car at this '50s-style drive-in chain. – In Short
Founded in 1953 as a hamburger-and-root-beer stand, this nostalgic eatery is known for its intercom ordering system and roller-skating carhops. While servers rarely roller skate anymore, the famous made-to-order, all-beef burgers and thick malts are still menu favorites. Other signature items include Toaster sandwiches (made with thick Texas toast), extra-long chili and cheese hot dogs and hand-battered onion rings and tater tots. Desserts include chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shakes and fresh fruit slushes.
Sonic Drive-In – Fast Friendly Service, Food is always fresh and hot. Awesome variety for the starving person or the snacker. Burgers made to order just the way you want, mayo, mustard, catsup, 1000 island or hickory sauces. You can have it on a bun or texas toast with bacon, cheese, green chili, red chili, jalapenos, onions or grilled onions or just about anything you can think of except mushrooms. Fries are awesome and they also have Tater Tots that are out of here and don't forget the made fresh daily Onion Rings. Shakes made with real fruit, sudaes and banana splits and they just started serving breakfast which you can get anything on the menu at 7am or 7pm it doesn't matter they will fix it for you and some are open even earlier.
Remember When – We love Sonic Burgers it is like going back in time. The size and flavor is there . A little between fast food and drive in...With all the coolnest of both!!!!!!! Keep it going "Sonic" we will keep coming.
Pretty good – The burgers are good but nothing super-special. The great part about Sonic are the other eats. They have tater tots, and they're crispy and greasy and sooo good. Foot-long chili dog with cheese and onions - 'nuff said. Their drinks are great too. I love the lime-ade.
sonic is the best ever – sonic is the best place to eat. The food is awesome, the people are friendly. I would reccomend this place to everyone i know.
Great Burger – With just a dash from the past, Sonic serves-up some of the best burgers in town. A favorite of mine--a double with cheese and jalepenos!
The Best Eats On or Off World ! – I moved here to Phoenix in Jan. of '02. It was a hectic and problem filled endeavor. We ate that night at a Sonic Drive-In just up the road from our new apartment. Before our food was delivered to the car, my boyfriend and I were in tears at the nightmare we had been through and what was still to come. Everything seemed to change after the food had arrived. With every wonderful mouthful our fears and worries abated. This was the BEST ! The absolute BEST, we both together had ever eaten. The move didn't seem so bad after all. We're certainly not going back to Medford, Oregon. They don't have Sonic Drive-Ins there. Nobody compares to their menu, On or Off World !!
