Pancakes at First Watch – First Watch is a decent restaurant for breakfast or lunch. I was there just the other day, and had an enjoyable meal. There was a bit of a wait to get a table, as I went on a Sunday, but it was definitely worth it. The waiters politely directed my party to some free newspapers and told us a table would clear up soon. About fifteen minutes later we were seated and able to begin ordering our meals. My order consisted of a small stack of two blueberry pancakes, with some hot chocolate to drink and a side of first watch potatoes.

There were a few different criterion I was looking for in my meal: the fluffiness and fruitiness of the pancakes, the sweetness of the hot chocolate, and the firmness and saltiness of the potatoes. Overall my meal was enjoyable, but there were some portions that left me wanting.

I’ll begin with the drink. The hot chocolate was, as would be expected, hot. It was fairly decent, but it took some caramel coffee creamer on the table to put it above par. Before the creamer it was sweet, but just not quite where it should be. After the added caramel flavoring, however, it was quite delicious.

The blueberry pancakes were decent, but not the best I’ve ever had. They were only sort of fluffy, which is definitely not how I like them. In addition, the blueberries were barely noticeable. It almost seemed as though I had ordered some of the regular pancakes. Not that they were terrible; they just weren’t what I was expecting.

The potatoes, on the other hand, were excellent. Soft and mashed on the inside, yet crispy on the outside, they were well-seasoned. I was able to enjoy them without adding any sauces or seasonings. They may be considered a little dry when eaten in this manner, but they certainly do not lack in any flavoring.

Just to sum things up a bit, my general experience at First Watch was satisfying. The menu is worth sampling a few times, and the wait staff is decent. I will definitely be return there sometime – maybe not right away, but it is certainly an option.

Great Breakfast – Worth the wait!

Be prepared to wait 15 to 20 minutes for a seat on a Sunday.

Good food, served hot with a smile!

I'm marking "Seated Promptly" as N/A as there is a wait, but it is a well known fact.
