Simple yet Satisfying – This place can be a bit grunghy at times and the usual patrons can be played out. However it beats all the snooty bitchy bars in snotsdale. When you just want to hang out and have a good time. Charlies is the place. So it is a country bar and they play country music for most of the time and they can maybe liven it up with a mixture of music. It has stayed around as long as it has and can get very busy on saturday and sundays. Even at odd times throught the week.
Pretty fun place, but sooo crowded on weekends – For being a "Cowboy Bar" there sure are few cowboys there. However, if you're in the market for disgusting men, you're in the right place. I always hear girls saying "all the cute one's are gay", but they obviously haven't been to Charlies. Everytime I'm there, I'm surprised cuz their patrons seem to get uglier as time goes on. Be sure to take a family sized bottle of hand sanitizer too, you'll need it. There's also tons of extremely drunk guys who stumble around either trying to make out with you, or start a fight with you.
Liked it – I enjoyed this casual gay bar. I went on a Monday night, it wasn't crowded, but the bartenders were nice and the prices were reasonable. Its a fun place to grab a beer or drink and hang out with friends. They have dancing as well.
Worst club on the planet – To put it bluntly, rude doormen, bad drinks, horrible atmosphere, and the ugliest guys in the state. If you're looking for a decent drink with cute guys...avoid this place like the black plague!!!!
On an added note....a couple people got mugged outside last month. You would think with all of their security, something would've been done...but of course, this is CHARLIES!!! The worst place on earth!!!
Horrible Atmosphere, Dirty, Ugly, and just plain Disgusting – And they say this is one of phoenix's best gay nightclubs? Clubs like this make me ashamed that I live in this city. Everything is subpar. You would think they'd clean up the place with their so called "remodeling" but the place is still dirty, weak, and boring. What makes it even worse, is that the security here has something up their asses all the time. I've seen a nice handful of people get warned for just laughing and being playful. Yet they didn't do anything when I saw these 2 fat f*cks get into a fist fight. I guess they want everybody fat and old to stay there, and they don't prefer any 20-somethings...so BEWARE!!! And for you out of towners expecting a NY or LA experience from this place...you better move on. If you like a smelly smoke filled bar with non stop country music, and fat-disgusting men galore; then this is the place for you. If you're looking for a crowd under 40 or in decent shape; you might as well make the 4-6 hour drive and spend a weekend in LA or Vegas.
this is the perfect place to ruin your night – they dont realize when is time to stop the danm country music, even when the dance floor is empty and everybody is about to fall sleep, this bar looks dirty nasty a typical bar from Mexico in US soil ....nasty place
Not Managment Frienly – Mangment needs HIV education. I've been 86ed for HIV related conditions leaving me with nerological damage from PML that effects my walk, interpreted by the manager as being drunk.
Charlie's Bar – It is a GREAT alternative bar in Phoenix! I always have a blast when I am there!! The people are friendly and it is a fun place to dance and hang out after hours!
Truely a "man's bar." – In Short
Judging from the number of cowboy hats in the bar and testosterone-fueled vehicles in the parking lot, it's evident what type of consumer Charlie's attracts. Ranch-evoking wood is the predominant decor, and country is the going musical style in this 14-year-old establishment, which is brother to Charlie's bars in Denver and Chicago. Pool tables and dart boards beckon the competition.
LOTS OF FUN! – On thursday nites, Charlie's is the place to be for all rainbow flaggers. The music is awesome, the people are hot, the patio is awesome, and the atmosphere is just all party!
