Excellent Flavor and Unique Place.
I felt the editorial review did no justice to this restaurant. It was like the reviewer didn't even go in the restaurant, but looked through the window at the decor and glanced at the menu before heading off to McDonald's. The portions are very generous, but forget that and concentrate on the flavor. I've tasted both the roasted chicken with goat cheese and the black & blue quesadillas, and these are definitely very special dishes. The flavors work so well. I'd avoid the drinks. I got a very average but somewhat pricey mojito, but luckily that was the low point (and it wasn't really that much of a low point).
This is an excellent, unique Southwestern restaurant. Forget Richard's New Mexican Food (over-priced and bland) also in Phoenix. I haven't had Southwestern-style food this good since my days living in New Mexico.
No chain here !. Definately notice the fact that this is no "chain" restaurant !
Popular tourist cafe offers an affordable taste of the Southwest..
In Short
Sam's is a corporate restaurant, and the decor reflects it: Wood-floored, airy, rustic wood, faux lizards and the colors of an Arizona sunset. There is a patio, and patrons can expect to find meat, seafood, entree salads, sandwiches and pastas on the menu. Most dishes have been given a Southwestern touch with ingredients such as black beans, cilantro and chiles. Appetizers and excellent people-watching are what the cafe is known for.
Great Lunch. Sam's is my favorite restaurant to bring clients - fast service, excellent southwest-style food and always a busy place. Ideal location at the Biltmore Fashion Park!!
Laurie Z. The Sunday Brunch was to die for. Lots of variety and you can share the platters as well. Outside dining was great to entertain the little ones. The service was super.
