Overpriced, poor value. – Purchased lunch for 11 employee's - chicken and ribs were small with little meat. I have purchased barbeque - roasted chickens at grocery store with more meat at 1/3 the price. Could have had catered-in lunch, with servers, for same price. Staff sub-substituted peach cobbler for apple, left message while I was going to pick up. Peach cobbler was terrible, had to throw in trash. Several employees complained about under-cooked chicken meat. Stay away – poor value. If I could give negative star, i would.

The owner has potty mouth – Stay way away. I left complaint and owner Dan called and left a message. He called me an a$$ h@93 on my message.

Hap's prides itself as the "real" deal in quality barbecue. – In Short
Hap's is little more than a trailer, a smoker and a covered awning outfitted with misters and a couple of picnic tables. But this bare-essentials barbecue joint only cares to be recognized for what it does best. Cook-owner Dan Darroch smokes his St. Louis-cut spareribs over hickory overnight, and his smoky brown sauce has the tang of vinegar and just a hint of heat to accent meat without overpowering it. Sides include sweet coleslaw, beans and a broccoli-cheese casserole that epitomizes the Midwest.

Warning! Business Hours Only – I called to get their hours first, because I read online that they were once voted among the top 24-hour restaurants. They said they were open till 9PM, and while I understand that things change, I wish they would remove any such postings on the web. Nevertheless, I made the drive to the airport area and found them closed. When I called on my cell phone, they told me that the phones forward to their West Valley location when the East Valley location is closed, so I am a bit more than irked at them for not asking me which location I was calling about. Haps is really the pits.

Disappointed – With the new franchise and state-of-the-art BBQ and soul food restaurants going in down in Tempe/Chandler lately, I decided to do a BBQ tour, and Haps was recommended so I stopped there first. This is a traditional BBQ shack, cheap food, but not a place you want to go for a business lunch, and certainly not a place to bring friends. The ribs were pretty good, but the beef was fatty and tough.

Hap's isn't Happening for Me – Hap's is a highly rated barbeque joint by the critics, but I have been there twice without much luck. The first time, I ordered a brisket sandwich to go -- big mistake! Soggy bun, meat the consistency of pulled pork. The second time, I ordered ribs, but all I got was bone and fat and sauce. I love barbeque and will try again, but third strike and your out of here...

Good BBQ – Im from out of town and wanted to see what was Phoenixs best BBQ. Over all the BBQ places Ive eaten I would rate this around an 8.5-8.

I had the Meat Sampler, comes with Ribs: (8.0) good flavor, tender but Ive made better not as good as Daddy Bruce Randolf in Denver, Chicken: (9.0) good taste some of the best Ive had out. I chose Pulled Pork: (7.5) was tender, Beef Brisket (8.5) good taste & Hot Links: (8.0) as good as any Ive had out.

Sauce was ok nothing to write home about.

Had old fashion Soda Pops, was cool!

If I was in the neighborhood Id stop by but would not go across town again.
