Don't Go – I have been going to Mikado's for over year. I like their Sushi but the service there is poor. I kept going to see if would get any better but it hasn't, it's worse. Again today they got my order wrong and there was a fly in the Miso soup. When I talked them them about this they did not seem to care and said that it was the way I had ordered? Remember I have had the same order for a year. I don't usually review places but if there are fly's in the soup what's in the raw fish? I won't be back and advise others not to go. There is another Sushi place across the street by Peter Piper which may cost a couple of bucks more, but it is cleaner and the service is much better. I am going to make a complaint with the Health Department.

Mikado Sushi – Mikado is not a high class sushi restaurant, which is exactly what makes it so desirable. The authenticity of Mikado is unprecedented, similar to that which would be seen in current Eastern cultures. Most American sushi restaurants attempt to trick the customer with over-priced fish and an overtly eloquent surrounding, but Mikado has succeeded in presenting traditional Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price. The restaurant itself is relatively small with a few booths and tables and a sushi bar which seats about fifteen customers. The small surrounding gives the restaurant a relaxed feeling that is uncommon in most high-class sushi restaurants. With a small indoor decorative fountain, flat-screen television, and modern music playing throughout the restaurant, Mikado has an incredibly comfortable and consumer-friendly atmosphere. Mikado is a great place to bring friends or to have a small business meeting during lunch. There are only a few chefs and waitresses, but for good reason. The family-like staff works well together and is reliably efficient. When walking in, the customer chooses their own seat and is quickly brought a menu which contains many variations on original sushi rolls.

The food itself is outstanding, especially for the amount they charge. Most sushi restaurants charge fifteen dollars for a roll of sushi, while Mikado charges only around ten dollars. Plus, the greater amount of pieces received at Mikado fails to compare with its rivals. Mikado offers a great selection of unique types of sushi, which are not available at most American sushi establishments. The checkerboard, a colorful roll consisting of salmon and whitefish, is a favorite, arranged in a pattern that is fitting for its name. The checkerboard is not only beautiful, but delicious. Unlike most rolls which are covered in a light sauce such as unagi (eel), the checkerboard is set in a thicker sauce that is surprisingly spicy and greatly compliments the flavors of the condiments within the salmon and whitefish. Mikado serves some of the best and most unique sushi available for an affordable price and should not be overlooked by customers that do not believe that god sushi only comes from fancy restaurants.
