Best Bombay Sapphire Martinis Anywhere – If you like real martinis (the ones made with gin, up, and stirred, not shaken, ), AZ88 is the place to go -- they're all triples and the glasses are so full, you have to begin to enjoy by sipping them from the table rather than trying to pick them up. Bombay Sapphire with a twist are my favorite. Combined with their Burger Au Poive II or the flash fried spinach salad (both large enough for 2 to share) and what more could you ask for?
I like the decor – In my line of biz i.e. fashion I aspire to hang around the it crowd where ever I go. This is the place I have been looking for in AZ. Stop in to say hi or get a buzz either way I will be back.
Love the decor! – We decided to go AZ 88 after a recommendation from a friend. The setting is beautiful and the decor is modern and hip. We were unsure of where to go to put our name on this list and others were waiting in chairs in the front of the restaurant. I had my boyfriend approach one of the waiters to ask, and he directed him to a blond woman and she promptly pointed a table out for us. It seems like they don't have a set system for seating, so knowing this might be helpful on your first visit. They were busy and the tables are kind of jammed together, but comfortable enough. I didn't order a cocktail but a friend had a Mai Tai and wasn't thrilled about it. I ordered their only Riesling on the menu and it was delicious. The burgers were tasty, but the fries were my fav! They are waffle fries and the sauces served with are great.
Horrible Host !! – My friends at work suggested that I go to AZ88 for their awesome drinks. On a Saturday night my husband and I decided to go. I was exciting to go and was really hungry. As we walked up we saw the crowd and figured that there would be a wait to get a seat. We were both willing to wait . As we approached the host, he gave us a blank stare like "what are we doing here? " I was instantly turned off but still wanted to eat there. So I said " seating for 2 please". He looked around and said " ok, go in there (pointing into the dining area) and find a lady with a white shirt and black tie (mind you, thats their uniform so they ALL were wearing it) named Ally, she will find you a seat" I was furious. I couldnt believe he expected me to walk around the dining room in a sea of people to find my OWN hostess !! I was so upset I said " never mind, i dont even want to eat here anymore." This was my first impression of AZ88 and it was NOT a good one. Dont think i'll try again.
Fabulous Decor, Even Better Food!! – Wow! I was blown away by the quality of service at this Scottsdale eatery. It was such a pleasant experience from start to finish! My party ordered the Gallettes to begin with...an eclectic mix of caramelized onions and black olives on flatbread. We washed it down with delicious, bottomless iced-tea. For an entree, I ordered the Cobb Salad with Swiss cheese. I only managed to finish half of the salad due to the generous portions. It was packed with rich, avocadoes and the perfectly grilled chicken. One of the patrons I was with ordered the AZ/88 Chicken Salad and it was a bit spicy for her palate. The server took it back to the kitchen and promptly returned with a Cobb Salad. Fantastic. The decor was hip and modern. The bathrooms were a huge plus with mirrors everywhere and magenta lighting. A fabulous experience!!!
Excellent burgers – This place has great burgers, waffle fries and other finger foods. Its a very trendy bar which also serves very good food so its good before or after an event at the scottsdale center for the arts. Also good for lunch. It gets a gay crowd on Fri and Sat. so be prepared if thats not what you're expecting.
Best Restaurant – AZ 88 has great food and is deffinitely the best place to hang out with friends and just chill. The staff is cool and the DJ Rocks!
Striking Civic Center restaurant feautures contemporary ambience and great bargain fare. – In Short
Steep drink prices not withstanding, this contemporary restaurant is the darling of Scottsdale socialites of all ages. An expansive patio overlooks Civic Plaza's fountain and greenery, but the main attraction is the sleek, white-washed dining room featuring an open floor plan, picture windows, cool washrooms and quirky modern art (ever see a mannequin-head Christmas tree?). The attentive staff and an affordable menu of sandwiches, salads and appetizers make "AZ" the ideal pre- or post-bar stop.
Fun! – AZ88 is a lot of fun. This place has great food, fun atmosphere, and wonderful drinks! This is a great place... if you can find it!
The ambiance is great, the food so-so – Well I heard great things about this place and of course I expected a lot and was disappointed. The design of the bar is great, except for the bathrooms which are kinda weird, but the rest is totally cool. The food we got was a little bland and not what I was hoping for. I will not be going back again.
