Great School – I read the other reviews and can't believe anyone would say such horriblle things, especially since they are NOT TRUE. My 5 year old was in the kindergarten program at First Impressions a few years ago and is now excelling in all subjects. I am back with my 2 year old, and started her in the toddler room at First Steps when they opened last February. My daughter loves all the teachers, and can't wait to go every morning. I have already reserved a spot so my son can be in the infant room in January. Check it out for yourself and don't believe everything you read.

disgusted!!!! – the classrooms r over ratio. the owners daughter in infant room seems to always b on her cell phone. i have heard her talk to the kids in such a disrespectful manner that it made me sick. i have seen the owner disipline the teachers in front of the class...i have even seen a couple of the teacher brought to tears by the way they r treated! one teacher even told me that they serve reheated food from previous meals! the owner even treated us rudely! she call me at 530pm one day to "remind me" to dont rorget to pick up my child! i had only once been within 5min late of getting to the school by closing(6pm)! i am very disgusted w my experience there! i cant believe she is able to stay in business considering the way she treats the parents, kids, & teachers!

Our Licensing record speaks for itself. Classrooms, are, in fact, under state ratios. Classrooms are video monitored and teachers caught violating safety practices are immediately removed from their positions. This poster is obviously a disgruntled former employee who has already filed false licensing complaints. The only parent ever called at 5:30 as a reminder was by parental request.

Never again – I will never bring my child to first impressions or first steps preschool after the things I have expirenced. Although they will tell you other wise the classrooms are often over capacity and owners seem to care more about money then the actual children. Teachers seem very unhappy and it reflects poorly on the children. Teachers seem to come and go, but the parents are never informed when their child will be getting a new teacher. I put my child in the preschool because I had a friend who had become a teacher there. She left after a few months, boss did not pay over time, did not treat the teachers well and allowed her daughter who works there to walk over everyone. I was finally pushed over the edge when I went dropped into my childs classroom to find an angry teacher yelling harshly at a child. But her lost in control is understandable considering she had 17 students by herself when the max was suppose to be 13. Which I still think is to many children for one teacher to watch. I attempted to talk to the owner but she is very difficult to get a hold of. Though the school is cheap I would much rather pay for an over priced preschool that I feel is nuturing my children then a more affordable preschool where the children arent top priority.

Dear badschool,

The teachers you refer to are no longer with the school. This includes the teacher left with 17 children by herself and the teacher who left her out of ratio. I apologize that you and your child were subjected to such inappropriate and unprofessional behavior, and wish you had spoken to me (I am available on premises every day) so the situation could have been corrected sooner.

I wish you all the best.

Great preschool and K – My son attended the pre-K (4 yo) and K at First Impressions and I can't say enough good things about the place, at least for these age groups.

By December of pre-K, the kids could count to 100. They had a strict but loving teacher (meaning: she didn't hesitate to use timeouts) and she constantly came up with creative projects for the kids. She always seemed happy to see them and their parents as well.

I sent my son to Pima ES for K and took him out by Thanksgiving. That school made him ( and me) a nervous wreck. We went to FI on a partial scholarship (I'm a single parent) and he had the best K ever. He learned a ton and loved going to school. I remember stopping in one day and finding all the kids absorbed in a diagram of insects.

I think that his K teacher (who also has 1st graders in class) is hands down, the best teacher I've ever met. And he has GREAT teachers at his current school (Pueblo).

My only concern there was that the staff needed to pay a bit more attention to heat. They weren't always aware of high-pollution alerts and media advisories to keep kids indoors on certain days. But that's 3 years ago and may well have changed. The kids always had access to water and sunscreen.

Horrible School - find something better – My son was in the 1 year old room at this school for about 9 months. At first it was pretty good but after the teacher left it gradually got worse and worse until I actually felt sick sending my son there. There was no consistency in the classroom and when teachers changed, the conditions in the classroom (such as cleanliness) also changed. I would constantly drop my son off in the morning and find soured milk in the kids' cups from the day before. The last teacher right before we left didn't even seem to like children and complained to me, a parent, all the time about having to hold one little boy who I later found out had experienced some terrible things and clearly needed just a little bit of comfort. She would also do all of their art projects for them and every time I came to the classroom (I came at a variety of times), she was sitting there watching them play instead of being actively involved with them. There was no curriculum at all and the teacher in the morning would give them cookies and candy for a snack before breakfast. One time I came to pick my son up and I heard the teacher yell "what?" in a very mean tone to one kid for trying to get her attention while she was vacuuming. The director was standing right in front of me and didn't seem to care at all. I also had one teacher who chose to tell me all about the many problems in her life when I would drop my son off in the morning. Oh, and when your kids were sick, they wouldn't call you. I picked my son up one day and he clearly had pink eye but no one had bothered to contact me and ask me to take him out of the class until he was on antibiotics. My son hated going here in the morning and was always ready to go at the end of the day. All in all, I felt that they were unprofessional, not focused on the kids, lacking in consistent policies, not a nurturing environment, and did not communicate with parents. I was never so glad to leave somewhere in my life.
