Flavorful and zesty Szechuan fare with easy access, good service, and great prices. Try the seasonal specialties! – Whenever I have business with Tempe Camera or Arizona State University I look forward to lunching at Ted's Little Szechuan.
Though it is so close to ASU there is always adequate parking. When the main dining area is full, guests are accommodated in the banquet room which is quieter. All personnel are pleasant, attentive, and can answer questions.
I like many of the zesty selections but have deferred to the daily special for the past several visits. Ted prepares these seasonal dishes with impeccable care and love. So the prices are truly reasonable. We are never hurried and there is always a watchful server. I prefer to trust the chef's standard and authentic seasoning for my tate, but the kitchen can and does adjust the amount of "zip" for individual tastes.
Symbolic with his dedication to be efficient and responsive, Ted has developed a wireless order entry system with the kitchen. A waitress simply taps the order in on a wireless PDA and meal is started without fuss or wait.
For business lunch or small banquets, or informal pleasure dining, I recommend Little Scechuan without reservation.
good simple joint – I've been here a few times since I work around the area. The food is good and the portions are big. The place is family owned and so everyone working there is very friendly and happy for your business, unlike the zillion other chain restaurants that have overtaken Mill. I rated it "highly recommended" not because its gourmet food but because its a great value and everyone seemed like good people.
Pretty Good – I've only been here twice. It was recommended by a friend. Unlike the other review I've read, I actually thought the place was quite good and it reminded me of my favorite Chinese place in Manhattan. Of course I'll go a few more times to get a better idea if the place is really good or not, but so far, I like it alot. Service was also quite fast.
Little Szechuan Could Use a Little Flavor – The general concensus was that a negative rating for Little Szechuan would be too generous. Between three lunch specials (cashew chicken, mu-shu pork, and pork chow mein), the flavor was in the potstickers that arrived considerably later than the main dishes. Service was prodded on by our request for drink refills and an inquiry for the missing potstickers. Adding insult to injury was an unknown charge for crispy noodles for the soup.
Little Szechuan is just a lot of filler.
