Poor service.... – We go to Islands in Manhattan Beach, but we decided to go to Torrance one this time. Waiters were snooty and need some customer service training. We sat at the tall table in the bar area. Yep, we sat there for 5 minutes and no one came to take our orders. We put our hands up like little kids in school, trying to flag the servers "oh, oh, oh, eerr... hello, we are ready to order now...!?!?!" 2 servers in a row who walked past in front of us said "someone will be with you in a few minutes." So we waited for few more minutes and NOTHING. so we left. by the way, those 2 servers who walked past in front of us went to the bar and were flirting with other customers.
If Gilligan opened a burger joint, this would be it. – The Scene
With thatched umbrellas, photos of crashing waves, stuffed toucans and a soundtrack of twangy '60s surf-rock, it doesn't take a genius to figure out this chain's theme. Yep, it's beach, burgers and plenty of kitsch. The jovial atmosphere and service (not to mention a full-service bar) lures lunching business folk, beer-drinking college students and families with food-throwing toddlers.
Like the decor, the menu is a no-brainer--sandwiches, salads, fries and burgers. Served in a basket with fork and knife, thick beef patties come grilled to order with lettuce, tomato and any variety of extras. For a lighter bite, try one of the soft tacos. Filled with either fish or chicken, the wraps are inauthentic, but tasty. Yaki tacos are stuffed with teriyaki chicken, chives, pineapple and jack cheese. Whatever you order, don't forget the fries. These hand-cut, super-crispy sticks are addicting, especially when dipped in creamy ranch dressing.
online ordering – I went online to look for their menu and found the order online option. I started thinking that that was quite the convenient idea. Well, I placed my order and over an hour later I recieved a call back confirming my order. I informed them that I had already gone to another restaurant and to get my dinner. At that they said "does that mean you want to cancel this order?" I thought to myself 'no that means I want to place a lager order!', but I didnt say it. I responded yes, and they said "ok, bye", and hung up.
I'm sure I'll go back to visit the restaurant in a few years (just kidding), but I wont order online again.
A Near Hit – The food is not bad, but I have to admit, I am not into hamburgers. I had the Jungle Ceasar Salad. Most of the people that I were with ordered items other than the burgers. They seemed to be a little more satisfying. I won't give this place a bad rating since I had a salad. In my opinion, I feel that the In N Out fast food chain has the best burger. However, if you want to go to a restaurant, I would go to Red Robin. Their burgers are really good.
Are you kidding me? – Ambiance - if you like Jimmy Buffet, your set.
Food - Come on! If you like Bennigan's Food, your all set.
Get on the chain gang....
