More than just an art museum, this historic compound includes Western art, pre-Columbian artifacts and restored, turn-of-the-century homes. – The Scene
The Tucson Museum of Art's collection is as eclectic as its design. Western, pre-Columbian and contemporary art is displayed along the interior spiral walkway, but this complex includes more than just the museum itself. The TMA compound also contains restored former residences from the mid-19th to early 20th centuries, including the mission revival J. Knox Corbett House.
The pre-Columbian exhibit at the bottom of the "well" is semi-permanent, as is the John K. Goodman Pavilion of Western Art, featuring selections from the museum's collection of cowboy and cattle canvases. The 1906 Corbett House is full of arts, crafts and furniture from the early 20th century. Look for stunning examples of the Arts and Crafts movement including Tiffany lamps, Roycroft candle sconces and ashtrays, and a Stickley rocker.
