Tastes like chain restaurant pizza :-/ – We ordered Mama's pizza last weekend after reading all the positive reviews. Having just moved here from back east, we were excited to try this citysearch hyped pizza. We ordered a regular cheese pizza for delivery.

It arrived within a reasonable time frame for a Saturday night and was still warm. Still, we were disappointed. It tasted exactly like Papa Gino's Pizza (a pizza chain back east). Nothing special, just average, like a chain pizza restaurant. I *probably* wouldn't order from here again, but who knows, maybe I'll try something else from the menu. The telephone people were very friendly as was the delivery guy.

Best pizza in Tucson – Great service, nice family friendly atmosphere and some of the best pizza I have ever had. I don't recommend getting extra cheese on the family size pie though, it makes it kinda soggy and just does'nt taste as good.

Old-world Italy updated for the Southwest in a charming local chain. – The Scene
Brick, stone and wood create an outdoorsy feel in this locally owned pizza chain. In front, a high wall isolates a pleasant dining patio from the busy street and surrounding office park. Tables cluster around two sparkling water fountains. Like many pizzerias, Mama's is strictly counter service.

The Food
Salads are large enough to serve two--the dinner salad is heaped with crispy, fresh iceberg lettuce and the artichoke salad contains mountains of mushrooms, black olives and artichokes. The jumbo-size calzone folds over piles of soft, melted ricotta and mozarella. The marinara sauce is tangy with fresh tomatoes and garden herbs. The thick, yeasty crust of the deep-dish Sicilian pizza contains blended Italian cheeses, but meat slices are skimpy on both pizza and calzone. Signature pizzas divert from the traditional without getting too weird. The Sonoran features green chiles and the pizza blanco is spread with Alfredo sauce.

For excellence nobody comes close to Mama's – Anybody ordering their first Family Size Mama's Special will tell you when they picked up their pizza they came away shaking their head in disbelief. I have seen people call for help carrying the pizza. Everything on the menu comes in ample portions. You get a great value at Mama's.

All whole items are prepared fresh immediately to the customer's order. Besides several sizes of pizzas, Mama's offers a slice which is 1/8 of a 24 inch Family Size pizza. The whole pizza is pre-prepared and partially cooked in advance. Depending on the customer's order, specialty toppings are added and cooking is completed, so there is only a short wait for the finished product. The Slice is perfect for a lunch where the customer's time is limited.

Dining in a Mama's restaurant is always a great experience in a pleasant surrounding. No other pizza restaurant can offer what Mama's does.

Home of the GIGANTIC Slice! – It's always entertaining watching the first-timers see their first slice of pizza at Mama's. The slices are HUGE!

The pizza itself is good. There are better places out there, but for the portion/price ratio, it'll fillup the most hungiest of person, and leave a smile on their face.

The pizzas are not made to order. They cook a LARGE pizza, and as you order it, they place the toppings you requeste and cook it AGAIN. When the place isn't crowded, you get an old slice. If the place is hopping, you get a fresh slice.

It's recommended if you go with a group, order a large pizza to ensure freshness instead of everyone ordering individual slices. Also, there are several locations in town!

One slice will fill you up – Mama's pizza has the best pizza I have ever had west of Chicago. The family size pizza will fill your whole table, as that is how large it is. The antipasta salad is excellent, but don't order spaghetti, as that is not their strong point. Overall the atmosphere is wonderful and the pizza delicious and filling.
