Awful – I ate at this restaurant not too long ago and i felt i should share my experience. I cannot fathom how long this restaurant has been around. Their service, prices and food are terrible. So lets talk first about the most important part of all, the food.
They have a pretty decent sized menu, far more options than you would get from eating at oh, lets say Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill, but if you look at the prices you might just want to go to the aforementioned restaurants. Apart from having a decent calamari appetizer, the entree was very mediocre, I ordered the lamb shank and it was very bland. It was bathed in olive oil which I found really disgusting. A little is good, but this much was just ridiculous. My wife ordered the "primavera" which is like linguine with tomato sauce and diced tomatoes and she also was disappointed with it. She had described it as bland and dry.
Now lets talk service.
When my wife and first got there, it took us about 2 minutes for someone to greet us and sit us down. I think it was the owner, an older gentleman, that sat us down. He did not look happy. The place was pretty empty it looked like only two other parties where there. They brought our water and took our drink orders. Our waitress looked very upset and unenthusiastic. I could hear the owners of the restaurant arguing with their children by the bar area which made me and my wife feel uncomfortable. Our waitress did not pay too much attention to us and you could see her sipping wine and just sitting down there. I gave her an eye and she finally got up to check up on us. Very unprofessional.
All in all, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Maybe it was a bad night for them, but this experience will inhibit me from ever coming here again.
Romance and neighborhood warmth combine at this family-owned Uptown Whittier restaurant serving fine Italian fare for over 20 years. – In Short
The extravagantly decorated interior with Renaissance-inspired murals, white pillars and hanging lights sets the mood for romantic Italian dining laced with a casual neighborhood vibe. Guests enter through a large covered patio into the spacious main dining room, complete with white statues, a central fountain and a wood-fire oven. The large menu provides favorite Italian staples like sandwiches, pizzas and pastas as well as house specialties like homemade pumpkin ravioli in yellow tomato cream sauce and pork tenderloin in béchamel sauce with crimini mushrooms. There is also a nice wine and cocktail list as well as plenty of homemade desserts to finish off your meal.
unreliable food – This place definitely wins for beautiful atmosphere. Beautiful outside patio and painted mural. However the food is sometimes good and sometimes pretty average. The few dishes I have had there weren't anything special. However, I do know a few people who really like some of the dishes and continue to come back. I personally would rather head up the street to ristornate barilla for dinner. Although this is still a great ambience for perhaps some after dinner dessert.
