Excellent food preparation and presentation. Wine Spectator Grand Award for wine speaks for itself. Exceptional, detailed service. – My wife and I visited Anthony's last week for the first time during our week-long visit to Tucson and experienced wonderful food, wine and ambience. Our first impression, the bar, was excellent. The dining rooms are impressive in every detail (with or without the stunning views of both the mountains or the city!). As a quirky observation, even the pianist was well versed in popular favorites and classical repertoire - a very refreshing detail. Anthony himself came to our table to greet us and made an exceptional recommendation pairing our double lobster tail appetizer with the Jarnum Pinot Grigio. The half bottle of Amarone Speri complimented our entrees perfectly - The roast duckling au poivre is as good as anything I've eaten anywhere, including Paris. The head waiter, sommelier and assisting wait staff were as efficient and helpful as they were engaging and courteous; increasingly rare, even at many fine dining establishments that we have visited. After dessert (try the Chocolate Mousse cake!) we were treated to a special after dinner drink comprised of a special Italian lemon liquor mixed with prosecco, a perfect way to end a fabulous dinner. I highly recommend Anthony's. Looking back, the only way we would have enjoyed it more would be to have friends and family there from Las Vegas to enjoy it!! Anthony & Kelly LaBounty, Las Vegas, NV.
Worst Customer Service Ever – After hearing so much about the place, we were really looking forward to the experience. We sat down and ordered a $60 half bottle of champagne. We then waited 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table and inquire about our food order. The waiter came to the table and was extremely rude when we suggested that we would like to order some appetizers to go with the wine and asked some questions about the menu. He did not come back again. There were only 6 other tables in the restaurant (Monday night). After 25 minutes without anyone taking our order, we asked for the check for the champagne and left. We went to the Arizona Inn, where we were staying, and had a wonderful meal. I would never go back to Anthony's again.
Mediocre – Although the service was good and the city views are great, the food was really mediocre. My soup du jour (beef barley) was so salty I did not eat the tiny portion that was served. The Lamb Wellington was flavorless and tough and the fish dish was a tad overcooked, in my friend's opinion. We were seated relatively near the kitchen from where we could hear rude comments from the servers, including a comment from an apparently annoyed trainer to a busboy that, "you have to keep one hand free at all times (when you are carrying a tray?) so that you can pick your nose!" I am not making this up. We considered walking out at this point. Don't waste your $.
Best wine selection in town. Food is out of this world. Veal Marsala is the best in town. – From the minute you walk through the doors you are taken straight to Italy with the atmosphere, wines, great food and attentive staff. The views of the town are spectacular at night and enhance the dining experience beyond belief. Prices are a little higher than other Italian Restaurants but well worth it.
Breathtaking views and stellar service distinguish Anthony's from the rest of the fine-dining pack. – The Scene
Perched at the top of Campbell, Anthony's is a true Tucson institution and one of the most romantic restaurants in town. The dignified dining rooms reflect the elegance of the food and service, and the view of the Tucson valley is unbeatable.
Anthony's is famous for its 1,600-item wine cellar, where inventory ranges from good table wine to the sort of vintage you (and your accountant) can only fantasize about. The food is as fantastic as the wine: The tender, flaky lamb Wellington is a standout, as is the Chateaubriand. Fresh fish, veal and beef dishes round out the brief, impressive menu. Anthony's lavish appetizers include garlicky escargot and a duck liver pate that will almost make you forget how the ducks are raised. For dessert, choose from weightless souffles, pastries and miscellaneous chocolate indulgences.
good, but overpriced+ service needs a little work – Food was good but we've had better. Seemed overpriced. Service was overattentive. Asked if we needed sommelier and we said no, but he came anyway, and definitely put pressure to sell.
Towards the end (10pm) The service was removing tablecloths and silverware in our presence, and we could hear the conversation in the kitchen. They were obviously in a hurry to get rid of us, so we obliged and didn't even stay for dessert
The best Tucson has to offer! – Most people with class know that an attentive staff is the cornerstone of any fine dining establisment. Anthony's in the Catalinas excels when it comes to prompt but not rushed attentive service. The menu features copious indulgences that will make the snootiest epicurean's mouth water, with a wine list that is second to none. The staff is polite and knowledgable, and it is apparent that they care about the guest's dining experience. I would highly recomment Anthony's in the Catalinas to anyone who is fond of the finer things in life.
Not a good value – Anthony's has decent food, but nothing spectacular. Given the cost, you can do much better. The location is great, and service can be impressive. Overall however, you can get better food at better prices in many Tucson restaurants.
Stellar! – Not only have I had many unforgettable meals at Anthony's, it has been the precursor to countless romantic evenings with my mate. It has remained our favorite way to reconnect and indulge in fine dining, a spectacular view, excellent food and service, and ultimately, each other.
at home at anthony's – i was suprised with a romantic dinner here and was absolutely impressed with not only the quality and timeliness of service, but the views were amazing and the food was delicious. I have since then recommended Anthony's to many friends
