Good Sonoran Mexican Food – The selection here is not huge, but everything on the menu is delicious. Great tortillas, beans, rice, and red chili beef.
Calling ahead for carry out is a better idea then trying to eat in the restaurant... there are very few tables, and the wait can be long for food.
Red Chili Burritos hard to Beat – I have been addicted to red chili beef for some time now. But this place is not only affordable, I believe I have found the best red chili burros this side of the border. I personally prefer my burro double wrapped and enchilada style, but I have eaten these burros (at St. Mary's) without any extras. I am hooked and recommend this establishment to anyone who is on a budget OR if they just want a fantastic, good 'ol red chili (or green), birria chorizo, etc. burrito for a fantastic value. I say divert your hunger from the norm of all the fast food and visit this place. I guarantee that you will be a return customer.
Love their machaca!!! – Their machca burro is wonderful! One of the best I have ever had! Love their machaca and egg breakfast burros! Either one is a full meal at a reasonable price. Yes - They are short on seating, but don't let this stop you from enjoying a great experience.
Food is okay not great – The place is very busy at lunch and the food is okay but a little pricy for what you get. There is very limited dining space so plan on placing an order to go. The restaurant is highly touted and is okay but not my favorite.
Anita's Corner Street Market... – I have been going to this restaurant located in a historic home since I was a little girl. Personally, I think that their Mexican food is underrated. On the other hand, I like that it is not well know because it keeps a down home feel to it. The food is amazing and the portions are enough to fill me up for a couple of hours. Buy some of their tortillas and you will not regret it! Hell, buy a ton and put them in the freezer for future meals (just try repeating their food!) There is some outdoor seating, but it is not the type of place that most people sit down at. If you are looking for groceries, Anita's is also a market. The salsa is great!
Most people do not know about this market/restaurant because it is tucked within a neighborhood. Be sure to check driving directions.
Grab some of the best tortillas in Tucson, pile on the carne seca and adjust the heat by adding as much salsa as you can take. – The Scene
The unimposing building houses a few eat-in tables and a large bench for those waiting on their takeout orders. The place heats up in the summer, but ceiling fans keep the air moving, occasionally stirring up flies. All food is packed for takeout and most people take their dinners home, so dining in isn't a bother.
Their Sonoran-style tortillas are addictive. These homemade, paper-thin, platter-sized flour treats satisfy. People line up to take them home by the dozens, along with pints and quarts of fillings like carne seca and sides of refried beans, green chile or rice. Made to order flautas are crispy corn tortillas rolled tightly around fresh meat. Their green corn tamales are also a widely ordered favorite. The nachos plate heaps jalapenos, tomatoes, onions, cheese and a flavorful ground meat sauce. The Mexican, rice-based drink, horchata, completes any meal.
