I brought my brand new car in today for a platinum wash. When I got home afterward I noticed several big scratches on the console. I went back up and spoke with David the GM who explained that it was near impossible for them to cause the scratches looking me straight in the eye while basically telling me I was all wet. I'm hear to tell you that those scratches were not there when I got out of the car at the vacuum station. They only offered to speak their detail supplier and see if they had any ideas. I've been going there for over 20 years but that all stopped today.
I don't even think I would risk a rental car in this car wash.
I took my pickup in and had to pay and extra $10 "Extra Dirty" fee on top of the "Gold Wash" that is a $19.95. I was assured that everything including the wheel wells would be clean. It took two passes through the wash (after I pointed out dirt that was left on), and still there were handfuls of mud in the front and rear fenders and bumpers. I removed these and left the piles of mud on the driveway - all the finisher could do was offer me a damp (used) drying towel.
I was hoping for a professional job - certainly better than what I could accomplish at home.
The worst part was the chipping of paint on the hood, fenders, and rear wheel wells. There were some chips taken out that were blamed on "bubbles in the paint that were just driven off" by the operator-controlled 500 psi pressure washers. The part that is still astounding is the scouring of the rear wheel-wells down to the bare metal. When this was pointed out there were tales of "There is no way we could have ever done that", "That is what wheel wells always look like" - even though they were flawless before using this "professional" wash, and "hundreds of thousands of cars have been washed in this location without any problems". They also tried to explain the physics of why only certain areas of the wheel well are now paint-less - If it were really stones adhering to the wheels - it would only be on the rear of the wheel well. There is no explanation to the paint missing (in the same pattern) on the front of the wheel well (or the top which has no missing paint - where there should be more force from "gravel traveling from the tires"). I have never driven 100's of miles in reverse on gravel roads at high speed - I can assure you.
So needless to say - I will not be returning there, and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place. A big clue (now) is "Touch-less Car Wash" really means "EXTREMELY HIGH PRESSURE CLEANING" car wash - I would rather use a good condition and less expensive automatic/rotating rag type car wash.
I've been a regular for a long time. Today I brought my wife's Kia Soul in for the first time. My Kia Soul got classified as an "Oversized Vehicle".
The manager would NOT remove it because "It is because we vacuumed the cargo area."
That $1.99 cost you a VERY regular customer. It's too late now, and I'm very glad that I didn't buy any gift certificates as I would be trying to return those as well. I'm beyond being appeased. I am very annoyed that the buck 99 an up-charge that I won't bring either of my cars there again. It doesn't matter how many coupons or free washes you send me.
My extreme frustration was over my complaining to the manager and he felt that "Vacuuming my trunk is why you got charged". It isn't. A Kia Soul (The hamstermobile) is NOT oversized, or an SUV. Fire the manager, remove the upcharge for stupidly small vehicles, and in about 5 years I'll stop by again and see if you are worthy of my money. Right now you're not. Shame on you!
If you value your time and money do not visit the Wave! Their 10 minute oil change took fifty minutes due to the obvious incompetency of the attendents. In addition to taking a long time, they charge $40 for a regular oil change. This is one case where Wal-Mart is a better choice over a local business.
Great Deal for a small price. – I recently visited the Sand Dunes National Park on an extended camping trip and in the process my car got filthy and sandy (in the mats, trunk, etc). I had heard about the Wave from a friend in Arvada who uses it for his greenhouse business vans (which, obviously, get realllly dirty). I got a $5 off coupon from their website and brought my car here It's a bit of a drive from where I live in Denver, but I needed to go to Babies'R'Us, too, so I combined errands.
The coupon I had was for the Gold Wash, which costs 19.99. So, I ordered the Gold Wash from the friendly female employee. She asked me what car scent I wanted, and I opted for "New Car" Ooooo Aaaaa. I gave her my keys and waited inside. They have a putt putt course, which I thought was pretty funny, arcade games, and a video game area (like PS or Xbox or something), and a computer for customers to surf the web. They also have free wifi so I got some stuff done while I waited.
Normally, I am a do it yourself car washer. I have never paid to get my car cleaned. I'm not a real meticulous person, nor am I "high-maintenance" per se. I usually spend about 7 or 8 dollars to wash my car and vacuum it myself. My car can get pretty messy with a toddler in tow. Paying $15 was a bit of an indulgence and a part of me felt a little guilty for not doing it myself, but my car was REALLY dirty after the camping trip.
I waited about 20 minutes in the lobby before my car was ready. When I went out to get it the manager said that he was having them re-vacuum it because it wasn't up to his specifications. When I got it back, the windows were so clean that I thought they were down. They had completely cleaned the whole car, windows and all, inside and out. There was no sand left, and my cheap, falling apart mats looked good. The dashboard (which was crazy dusty) was clean. They even vacuumed out my daughter's car seat and had given it a wipe down. In the entire time that I have owned my car, it has never been this clean. Even the tires were shiny black and clean. For how filthy it was, even on my student-budget, it was $15 extremely well spent.
Go on the website and find the coupon before you go.
Two thumbs up!
The Best Oil Change and Wash around – I have been using The Wave for the last 20 years along with all my family and friends. I refuse to go anywhere else to have my baby washed or serviced. I'm new to this online review stuff but when I looked at the negative reviews for My favorite Westminster business I was shocked and felt like I have to set the story straight. This is a great family owned place and I've gotten to know them. They are great people and do top quality work with the best customer service around. If any of these unhappy people went to them and let them know they would have found this out. Go there and enjoy a truly great Car Wash, Oil change and detailing center. Take it from an honest person. The Wave is great !!!
My car was damaged, too. – I was reluctant to say so, but given where I park and my borderline OCD attention to car care, it is clear to me my car was damaged at the Wave Care Center in Broomfield.
Specifically, the rear bumper and a small area of the fender was scratched to the tune of more than $500.00.
I will contact them to report the damage, but given I am unable to prove the damage was done at their facility, do not expect I will be reimbursed.
After reading Jessica A's review, I have to wonder if there are others who have yet to speak up, and whether or not legal action is a worthwhile option.
Beware of The Wave Car Wash – After going to the Wave, my car was damaged. The car wash put a huge dent in my door. After talking with the manage, Kenny. He would not fix my car, and told me to give a tip to the guy who did it.
Do not take your car here!
