We just completed a major remodel/addition on our 1950s ranch home and part of that project was the complete remodel and redesign of our kitchen. Caitrin at BKC went to great efforts to help me with the design, and worked patiently with me to identify the style of cabinets and functionality of the kitchen. BKC had a range of cabinet manufacturers to choose from - something for every budget. Once the design was complete Caitrin worked with us to coordinate the ordering and delivery to coincide with our Contractor's schedule. Our installer, John, was courteous, careful, and paid great attention to detail. There were some cabinet doors that arrived with incorrect hinge punches. BKC installed the doors temporarily (with the same professional installation) until the new ones arrived. Any guests looking at our new kitchen would admire the cabinetry, never knowing that the doors would soon be replaced! Once the manufacturer corrected the error, I was notified immediately and an installation date was set.

I would highly recommend BKC based on my experience. While big-box stores may offer incentives and discounts, they are truly not as good as they sound, nor will you get the kind of customer service and design assistance that BKC offers and which is absolutely critical when doing a kitchen remodel.

A great Kitchen cabinet/counter-top company! – This was a great experience working with BKC- I had the "Abbey Hill" Maple cabinets and black quartz counter-top installed. The product and installation was great. I was glad to work with BKC; they understood my need for quality and attention to detail. I do recommend this company, and especially Paul- the price and quality offered the best value for a quality kitchen upgrade.

I'm glad to have found BKC; I've been to other companies that don't have the quality or expertise found here. This is an A+ company.

Highly Recommended – We recently remodeled our kitchen. After visiting several design and big box stores we confidently chose BKC to design and supply our cabinets and counter tops. Paul at BKC was a pleasure to work with. He was attentive to our wants and to our budget; working close with us to add aesthetics and functionality into our space deficient kitchen. Paul and BKC handled everything in good time and within our original budget. The Medallion cabinets and Ceaserstone counter tops are wonderful additions to our home, adding beauty and value. Outstanding service, great value – I can’t say enough good things about the professional services I received from BKC. Caitrin McIlvain was instrumental in providing design ideas and product guidelines for my kitchen and bathroom remodels. Service manager, John Decker is a skilled craftsman. John’s attention to detail ensured the job was not completed until the quality met his high standards and I was completely satisfied. This was especially important because my General Contractor crapped out on me early leaving John to 'clean up.' The professional services I received from BKC is why I returned for my second remodel project (bathrooms). I highly recommend BKC Kitchen and Bath for your remodeling needs.

BKC Company response to MJD222 (3/28/10) – This customer, MJD222, has taken every opportunity to exaggerate and misrepresent BKC’s products and services in their review dated 3/28/10. In reality, BKC has quickly responded in a professional manner to every concern that this customer has communicated.

Regarding this customer’s specific issues:

“We requested that the delivery be quality checked by BKC – they didn’t”

BKC’s warehouse staff inspects every received order to make sure they are received complete and with no visible damage. We specifically made this customer aware, before they placed their order, that BKC does not open manufacturer packaging until the products are delivered to the jobsite. We are not aware of any other company in our industry that opens cabinet packaging before jobsite delivery.

“OakCraft hadn’t built the drawer slides right”

Our manufacturer did produce customer’s drawer guides according to specifications. OakCraft has 23 years of experience manufacturing cabinetry. BKC’s Service Manager performed a pro-active quality control check of the cabinetry, including the drawer guides, at the customer’s home during the installation process.

“Door fronts were crooked, some had finish problems”

One drawer front was re-ordered from the manufacturer as soon as the customer expressed a concern about a finish color variation. In the cabinet industry, it is not unusual to have occasional color variations due to the way that different pieces of wood accept color stains. In addition, it is typical for door and drawer front adjustments to be required after installation, due to shipping vibration.

“Glass doors were back ordered nearly 8 weeks, and then one was broken when it arrived at the house”

The customer was made aware that the style of glass they selected was on back-order for up to two months. They did not choose to re-select a different style of glass when informed of the back-order. The “broken” glass that was delivered to the customer, in reality was not broken, but had a barely visible one-quarter inch long flaw within the glass. Upon noticing this flaw, BKC quickly replaced the glass and re-installed the door.

“the stove won’t go in the cabinet slot because the granite was set too narrow. We complained to the office manager two weeks back, but he has been nonresponsive to problems”

When the customer called BKC to say that the slide-in-range they purchased would not fit within the granite cut-out, BKC’s owner visited the jobsite the same day with the countertop installer to assess the issue. The granite was adjusted by one-eighth inch within two days, and BKC installed the range for the customer to confirm a perfect fit with the granite and cabinets.

BKC has been in business for over 30 years and has maintained a stellar 25 year record with the Better Business Bureau. There are many reasons for this history, with the primary ones being our quality products and consistently strong customer service.

This customer’s review represents a gross misrepresentation of the facts as stated above.

BEWARE! Worst company. – We purchased an Oakcraft kitchen from BKC. We requested that the delivery be quality checked by BKC - they didn't. The day of insatallation we learned that Oakcraft hadn't built the drawer slides right and had to have a BKC rep out to repair them before they were barely in. Door fronts were crooked, some had finish problems. Spice racks don't work smoothly. Lazy susan has no stop on it - just cheap components and poor workmanship. Glass doors were back ordered nearly 8 weeks, and then one was broken when it arrived at the house. We are now waiting an unknown time for three new door fronts (last ones sent were the wrong finish), and the stove won't go in the cabinet slot because the granite was set too narrow. We complained to the office manager two weeks back, but he has been nonresponsive to problems. They clearly have no quality assurance program either with their product supplier or within BKC. For all the accolades they boast they look like they've never done this before. We were planning to purchase two baths worth of cabinets and countertops from them - NO WAY NOW! Absolutely the worst...

Kitchen cabinets – After considering several Kitchen cabinet suppliers, we visited BKC Showroom and met with their designer (Caitrin McIlvain). From the very first meeting, we were very impressed with Caitrin, her ability to efficiently gather the information, provide us with an excellent design in a very timely manner, and stay within the planned budget.

She also introduced us to a contractor (Tate Locke from Locke Construction), who impressed us in so many ways (always on time, great quality of work, took great care of our house). Caitrin worked directly with Locke Construction, on planning the project and design details – which made it so much easier for us.

Working with Caitrin, BKC and Locke Construction made a whole project a breeze, and the results are wonderful. We have already recommended them to several of our friends, and are looking forward to working with them in the future!
