4th of July at Dickeys: Horrid – I am a regular customer to the Dickeys location on Arapahoe. We came in July 4th at about 6:30 for a family meal (2 kids, 2 adults).

Firstly, they were out of at least 4 meats. They only had chicken, sausage and and hot links. The cook serving the meat said it was busy, therefore the issue. I would assume when it is busy one could cvook some more meat. Apparently, this was a bridge too far.

The person in front of me had a very long conversation with the cook about the lack of meats and he didn't get much information. I am not sure if the cook or his helper understood English. It was shrug this, shrug that. Since I overheard this whole conversation it was pointless to berate the cook and his poor service again.

The most shocking part was the actual restaurant. We sat over in a booth by the door. I noticed a lot of trays and food sitting on abandoned tables everywhere.

I decided to take a stroll around the place and counted at least 16, again 16 uncleared, unbussed tables. Food, drinks, trash etc was all over each of these tables and floors. It was truly disgusting. One could hardly find a place to even sit!

I also noticed two employees come out twice and looked around. They looked around and did nothing and headed back to the kitchen I assume to let someone else clean up the mess and hide.

This is inexcusable. I worked in restaurants long ago when I was in college and that is grounds for firing in my book. The store must have extremely weak management to allow this situation to develop and then also to allow employees to completely ignore the dining area disaster.

I will be honest I have never seen anything like it, ever. It looked like a hurricane went through the dining room.

I also wonder why meats are wrapped in plastic under hot heat lamps. I would assume that plastic molecules are leaching into the meats which is against health codes and could lead to a lawsuit. one could wrap them in foil to keep the meat hot and juicy w/o the use of plastic.

The sides looked old and very greasy.

Not sure if I will go back to that location again.

The best Meat and sides, free ice cream – This is really quick and delicious. Plenty of choices. My favorites: smoked sausage, fried okra and beans. I just need to learn to take someof my meal home so I don't eat too much!

Since 1941, this barbecue franchise has grown with its reputation for slow-cooked meats. – In Short
Patrons walk in and casually order at the counter, then settle at one of the wooden tables. Popular for a quick lunch as well as a full dinner, the menu offers choices in meats: beef brisket, pulled pork and ribs, sausages and smoked turkey. Cold salads and hot sides such as fried okra and barbecued beans complement the meats. Large groups take advantage of family meal packs that feed up to six.

Inexpensive (but GOOD!!) – Great BBQ meats. Multiple sauces. Large selection of tasty sides. Best value I've found for my $'s in Denver metro.

Real BBQ~ – Just like their cups say they are Lip Smakin, Finger Lickin, Rib Ticklin, Knee Slappin, Foot Stompin, Great Tastin.

More Important for us parents - $0.99 Kids Meal that actually fill the kid up with something healthy.

I can't get enough of the Brisket & the Ribs make my husband a happy man!

If the great food isn't enough to keep us coming back that fact that the prices beat all the competition is!

Real Texas "Q" – Finally, real BBQ in Colorado. I've been searching for years and now the search is over. The brisket is by far the best in Colorado and the sauce leaves me speechless. I like the cafeteria style self service, which saves on time and free ice cream.

Bring the Kids!
