I love my hair! – I recently had a my hair done at the Academy. Love the atmosphere and the salon. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Above all you cant beat the price ($11.00!!!). The service was just as good if not better than previous salons that I have paid top dollar for. My stylist Jack was amazing. He is so personable and charming. He even showed me how to round brush my own hair so that I can duplicate the look myself. So easy for me now.

I would have given 5 stars if parking downtown wasn't such a hassle. Thank you Aveda and thank you Jack!

I gave this salon 4 chances – My first trip to Pure Talent was fine with a hair cut from Julia. When Julia was not available I got color the next time from Margie. it was a horrible experience.First let me say that I have been having my hair highlighted for years and am used to having dark hair with golden or light brown highlights. I had just told Margie three times in conversation that I hated blonde highlights and when she kept upselling highlights to me, I bit. YES, she put BLEACH BLONDE highlights in. It never dawned on me that she would bleach my hair blonde! I called the owner later to tell her to talk to this young stylist about listening to clients. After being persistent I got a call back from the owner and then from a manager. I scheduled an appointment to get the color corrected at no charge and when I got there the colorist told me that the color would only fix the highlights and not color my roots which by that time had grown out. It seemed to me that color was color but I paid for the one color to insure that the roots would also be covered. THEN I made an appointment for another hair cut and paid $40.00 for a skilled stylist supervisor. She asked me if I minded her using a razor on my hair. I said no. She used the razor for the whole hair cut which I had never seen before. I have had stylists use a razor on parts of a cut. I look so butchered with an uneven very short cut. I finally have learned my lesson about his salon. I will NEVER return there no matter how many stylists they have available.

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard, "I love your hair, where do you get it done?" In fact, I have heard it so many times that I always ask my stylist Anita for extra business cards.

Anita is wonderful! She knows how make someone feel like a million bucks and look that way too. Every time I go to see Anita I come home feeling like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders not only because she gives the best head and hand massages but because I can be myself when I am in her chair.

Anita loves her job and you can tell. She is the kind of person that you immediately feel comfortable with. Her knowledge of color is fantastic and she instantly knows what colors go well with your skin tone. My cuts are always flattering and she gives me great tips on how to manage them. Anita also does my make up before I leave just to make me feel extra special. I absolutely love Anita and highly recommend her to all of my friends. After all, my best friend recommend her to me!

My hair is healthier and longer than ever – Other salons would take anywhere between 3 and 4 hours. Chrissy does the same job but under 3 hours and she keeps me laughing. My husband even notices the difference in my hair since I started seeing Chrissy.

Where's the talent? – I've been to Aveda Academy twice for a haircut. Both times with the same "stylist". The first time I was not super impressed, but my haircut was decent and I figured "hey it was a great deal and the stylist will continue to improve with experience." The second time around my stylist appeared to be unsure of herself as before and this time did a whack job on my hair. I entered with shaggy hair on the sides, requested that the sides and back be lightened up, but that I was still growing my hair out, and that the top just needed the tips trimmed.

A number 3 clipper and 20 seconds later, I looked like I had the beginning of a horrible bowl cut. I held my breath and hoped she'd take out the scissors as requested and find a way to fade the longer parts into the newly trimmed. (I'm not sure if Puretalent has designated instructors standing by, and I hold myself partially responsible for not yelling stop at the very beginning, but no one came over to inspect what obviously should have appeared as a major blunder on the part of my stylist.) My stylist seemed completely awkward with the scissors and started cutting the rest of my hair down. By the end of the dreaded process, which from the beginning I felt helpless to stop, I walked out with a Floyd's Barbershop cut.

To my credit, my only excuse for not loosing it in the salon was that I have poor eyesight and could not see how unbelievably ridiculous I looked when I stood up from the chair. I knew the cut was not at all what I expected, but didn't know how truly awful I looked until I was able to get in front of a mirror 30 minutes and a RTD ride later!!!!

I'd be embarrassed to go in for a job interview at this point. No one could take me seriously or think I had any social competence. I just wished I used another stylist, and that it weren't so hard to get a consistently good haircut in Denver. Aveda should not allow the stylist to touch anything but a wig. What purpose do the instructors serve if they do not instruct or step in to salvage a haircut gone horribly wrong from the beginning?

Christina H. is awesome! – I highly recommend Aveda Academy and Christina Herrera. She is fabulous! She's a senior stylist and trainer and I always walk out looking great. I get so many compliments on my color - I was even asked when I was traveling to NY for work if I was there for the hair show! She is a great listener to me and always helps me figure out how to style my hair on my own - which I love!

Best Cheap Haircut – I was going to my previous stylist for roughly 7 years. I liked her but didn't love her. Honeslty, I have never LOVED my hair. In addition, she charged a pretty penny. Roughly $170 for a color and cut. I was so not pleased.

Then, once i moved to downtown I was sick of traveling to cherry creek for my hair and plus i was on a budget. I went to Aveda and found Anita! She is great! She is so enthusiastic about my hair and a real blast to have doing my hair. After my last visit, i wasnt totally satisfied and wanted bangs. I came back in and she welcomed me and did my bangs for free and in a breeze. It was great. I love the way my color comes out -- a really hott, vibrant dark brown. And the type is always great. Long story short -- Aveda is great.

In addition, i love the music and atmosphere. Its fun, hip, and chic

Amazing tallent without the snobby attitude. – Since about last summer I've been having Holly cut my hair. She's attentive and asks questions. I like that she's completely focused on me and my hair. My pet peeve at a salon is when the stylists talk to each other, a la rude checker style, while ignoring the client. For several years now, I've been searching for a great stylist. Holly fits the bill. I think she really loves what she's doing too.

She's extremely skilled which is demonstrated by her amazing ability to anticipate what my hair is going to do if she tweaks the cut. one way or another. Because my hair is naturally curly, I've had a diffficult time finding someone who knows there will be serious issues if shrinkage is not considered. Truth is, I've been holding my breath since finding her, and now I'm finally realzing she's the one and it's been no accident.

It's such an important relationship, and I don't mean friendship. She's performing a service for me, I don't want to make friends with my stylist like some women may. It's a business relationship.

I wish the salon owners would moderate the music that blasts. I can barely tollerate the throbing techno or screatching acidic sounds that's usually played. It really ruins the Zen experience for me. I love music, but it's like being at the Funky Buhda. My guess is there is a very limited percentage of people that enjoy the music.

An upbeat tempo and loft-style locale give this city oasis some city style. – In Short
This salon's energy is more city-chic than sipping-herbal-tea. Much of the nail and spa activity takes place up front, while hair related services take up the back half of the salon. Along with standard treatments--facials, massage, wraps--extras include a pressure-point eye treatment to reduce lines and puffiness and a sun source treatment that starts with a body-glo and finishes with an application of self-tanner.
