Used to be great...but now...blech!!! – We went there after a nice night on the town. We used to frequent this place often, but of course, as you get older, you don't go out as much.
So, for a bit of nostalgia, we thought we would go to Pete's and order something to eat.
Our Server seemed like she was stoned out of her mind, and wasn't a bit interested in taking our order. After about 20 minutes, and asking another server if we could order our food, she reluctantly took our order.
We ordered coffee and one of our friends ordered a soft drink. We didn't get offered refills on any of our drinks, we had to ask.
Our food arrived, and it was mediocre. After we finished our meal, we were very tired and wanted to get out of there.
The Server finally brought our check. We could not read what was written and could barely read the total.
I honestly think that she was up to something, because when my husband went up to pay the bill. She didn't ring up the total on the cash register? Ahh well, who cares.
We used to come to this restaurant and get stellar service, delicious food and entertained by the crowd.
I wonder what happened?
Not bad for Greek food – I've never been a big fan of Greek food but when one of my friends brought me here I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of their stuff was actually pretty decent. As far as Greek food goes I would go here before anywhere else.
Good food...but OH MY THE SERVICE! – We've been to this restaurant many many times. We like the Greek food and their breakfasts are really good.
We decided to take my 82 year-old mother there for Mothers Day (5/9/11) as she'd expressed a desire for Greek food. She ordered the Mediterranean pasta - which she said was just "ALRIGHT." It was pretty dry.
My husband and son ordered the Gyros plate and I the Souvlaki plate. There came out just as expected...although my souvlaki was a bit overdone. We had dessert which was also good (rice pudding, carrot cake, and cheesecake).
The bill came - $81.90 - and my husband and son put their debit cards down, told the waitress to split the bill. The manager put the full $81.90 through on our card. Yes, he reversed it immediately - but our funds are now tied up until 5/11. The waitress brought the receipts back to the table to sign - no explanation as to what happened. We had to ask to see the manager and he offered no apologies...only that he'd messed up but had immediately reversed it.
Upon discussing with our credit union, it appeared that he not only put through the $81.90, but also $40.95 twice. We went back to the restaurant last night to discuss with the manager and another gentlemen. They both were very helpful - but again, no apology - just "we messed up."
My biggest issue is that when the manager did that, HE should have brought everything to the table with an explanation...not send his waitress (who had no idea what was going on). No offer of a free meal for our trouble...I doubt we will return any time soon. We are thoroughly disgusted with their attitude.
Owner could use some manners – This is just another greasy spoon, teaming with greasy spoons. Yes, they have a passable Greek salad, but to call this a Greek restaurant is plain misleading. The standard fare is burgers, club sandwiches, fries...with a few Americanized Greek "specialties" thrown in. We went there from time to time for a quick, cheap bite but honestly, I'm sick of sitting and looking at fat, sexist, Greek mafiosos smoke and drink and preside over the waitresses. Pete is just a scowling misogynist and after the treatment I receieved from him last night, I won't be returning.
OMG there was Phlegm in my food. – OMG... Found PHLEGM in my sandwich! Will never ever eat here again! Be warned don't make the manager mad!!
Food made us sick – My dad and I both got very sick eating here in the fall of 2007. When I called to tell them so that they could hopefully spare others of our misery the waitress was very rude and hung up on me. I submitted negative feedback on their website which caused a manager / owner to call me and apologize. He was very nice and offered my dad and I a free lunch, which I obviously turned down - that type of food born illness is not something I'll risk repeating.
Hideous Beyond Imagining – The tzatziki was sour cream with cucumber in it. The moussaka had what I honestly believe was Chef Boyardee meat in it, and was topped with some kind of horrible nutmeg custard (ostensibly Bechamel). A thin slice of soggy eggplant was placed between the two other toxic components. The vegetable sides were obviously frozen, and my soup was from a can.
This is honestly some of the worst, if not THE worst, food I have had in my life.
The service was quick and friendly - though receiving tripe promptly does not change the fact that it's tripe.
Our Go-To place for take out! – If someone had ever pointed out Pete's Greek Town Cafe and told me that I would order take out from there once a week, I would have NEVER believed them. The place scared me at first, but I"m glad I got over myself :). They have the best Greek Salad in Denver, always super fresh, and they are always friendly. We're never disappointed.
writeon1...animalsrfriends...edarnell...chris_al.. – you don't know what you are talking about. I used to work there and your comments made me sick. Get a life...
Avoid take out food!!!!!!!!!!!!! – Went because had been to the restaurant before (dining in house) and thought that the food would be as good for Take-Out. Hello! ... the temp. for the burgers wasn't correct and the lower half of the bun was so wet of grease ( as if drop in the fryer ) had to use a slice of bread to complete the bun. After cooking the burger in the microwave (not the best way to cook meat ... but with the heat at 95 degrees ) just wish that I had gone to Mac"s house instead of paying $22.10 for two burgers and a beer while I waited. Let's not forget the $3.00 tip for the wait staff that didn't offer me water when I had finished my beer and had to wait yet another 12 minutes.
