Horrible Delivery Service – I was visiting from out of town and was looking for some quality Indian food. I ordered a chef's special chicken dish with a side order of Garlic Nan. With delivery service, the total came to a whooping $30 but I was craving it so I went ahead anyway. First thing I saw that was wrong was the portion was tiny when I received the delivery. I then opened up the Nan and found that it was not only extremely small, it was also burnt on most pieces. Their was hardly any chicken in my dish and there wasn't even any red peppers in the mix. The rice wasn't up to par either. Disappointing and a waste of money.
Consistent food quality & service! – Moving to Denver from Colorado Springs, we really had a tough situation on our hands when we needed to find a new Indian restaurant to visit. We are whole-hearted fans of Mirch Masala off of Academy Boulevard (if you're down there, say hello to Tikka! He is a wonderful guy and will take great care of you!). I have found that Bombay has been a close second to the service and food quality we see at Mirch Masala.
I'm not that comfortable in the little hut-like seating with the cushions (I can never quite get close enough to the table...I'm always spilling food that way!) so I stick with the regular tables.
We always get veggie samosas and Chicken Tikka Masala...always great! During the summer they had classical guitar players sitting in the niche in the dining room, and also sitar players. The patio seating is wonderful when the weather is nice.
Parking is a pain sometimes, but such is Cherry Creek. I would recommend parking at the back of the restaurant (at least it is free if you can get a spot!!). I also never have had to wait for a table here, even for dinner on Friday night! They take reservations, however, so best to play it safe in case it is a busy night.
If you want some solid Indian food and good service, check out Bombay Clay Oven.
Best Best Best – it has been the best experience i ever had bombay clay oven is really a good place to eat indian food, i've traveled the world and specially india, and i had some food there but when i came back to us i only found that taste i had when i was in india in this restaurant. bombay clay oven is really a place to eat authentic indian food. i highly recommend this place.
THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY – I recently celebrated my birthday at Bombay clay Oven, it was a Friday night, they were busy, and we had to wait a bit for a table as we didn't had any reservations, but the wait at the bar was very pleasent. The meal was superb!!! i had chicken bombay which was just perfect. More importantly, the staff was very kind and efficient. I am very glad that i choose this restaurant for my celebration. Can't wait to go back.
Worst Service I've Ever Received – Bombay Clay Oven was highly recommended as a great place to get authentic, tasty Indian food. Their prices are somewhat high, but the ambiance is great and the food really is very good. However... I have never been treated so poorly as we were treated when we ate there.
First of all, the waiter wouldn't give us any suggestions. When we asked if he recommended one dish over another, he just shrugged, rolled his eyes and said "everyone's tastes are different." True, but not what you expect from a waiter!
After we ordered, we sat back and relaxed, enjoying the atmosphere and waiting for our food. We waited....and waited....and waited.... it took an hour and twenty minutes to get our food. Other diners came, sat down, ordered and got their food while we sat and watched. The waiter studiously ignored us until a member of my party actually grabbed his sleeve - he ignored all attempts at eye contact, saying "excuse me," etc. Once we asked where our food was, it magically appeared within moments.
The food was good, but again we were ignored by the waiter until he brought the bill. We were planning to get dessert, but he didn't even ask. The restaurant was not busy and there were several waiters - each one only had two or three tables. We were so shocked at the treatment that we complained to a manager - something I never do! That only made matters worse, because the manager said, basically, that some nights take longer than others.
I understand busy nights and I understand delays - I've worked as a waitress and I know it can be hectic and stressful. But we would have appreciated it if the waiter had come by to let us know he hadn't forgotten about us!
A restaurant that thinks an hour and twenty minutes is acceptable to wait for food is not a restaurant I will frequent. Which is unfortunate, because the food was good, but the service left a bad taste in my mouth.
The Best! – I love this restaurant! My boyfriend and I eat at Bombay Clay Oven at least once a week. Every time we go it, we receive a worm and sincere greeting from the owner. The food is fresh and delicious! The Samosas are always cooked properly and are never too doughy like in a lot of Indian Restaurants. On Friday evenings, they have a wonderful Sitar player for entertainment. This restaurant is a neighborhood gem!
Best Indian Food Around! – My wife and i found this restaurant when i was just experimenting with indian food. it was amazing. we go there all the time and it is amazing everytime. We have tried many other indian restaurants around the area and nothing stacks up to Bombay Clay Oven. The prices are very reasonable and completely worth every penny. we liked them so much that we had them cater our wedding! and they did an amazing job! i can't speak highly enough of this place and their staff. They are so friendly. This place has great food with a great atmosphere. so if you like indian food or want to try indian food, don't waste your time and or money elsewhere!
Best Indian I've had in Denver – I've tried a few places since I moved here and Bombay Clay Oven is by far the best Indian food I've had.
Everything tastes very fresh and the employees are very friendly. Only con is that they don't deliver.
A Crown Jewel – Wow, I was SO impressed with the food at Bombay Clay Oven -- and that doesn't happen as often as I'd like when I'm trying a restaurant for the first time. I admit that I am kind of a novice when it comes to Indian cuisine, but everything sampled here was absolutely delicious. I'd highly recommend ordering a combination platter -- it's a great introduction to the house specialties like tandooris and curries. I also discovered that Tajmahal (Indian) beer is a perfect compliment to the food, all of which had a lot of flavor, but was not overly spicy. The service was friendly, albiet a tad off. The hostess who sat us also turned out to be the sole waitress for the entire dining room, which quickly filled up on a Tuesday night. Someone who appeared to be the owner or manager jumped in a few times, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Luckily, I was enjoying the food so much that the slower pace of the service did not matter. I will definitely be back. Yum-bay!
Outstanding Indian Food – We had a wonderful evening here. The atmosphere was really nice. We sat in one of the booths with pillows and curtains - very cozy and romantic. There was a musician playing sitar which added to the ambiance. My husband and I both got a combination plate, so we could sample several dishes. Great saag.
