chinese food – WE HAVE GONE TO THE IMPERIAL SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED IT...HOWEVER, THIS TIME WAS SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT I DOUBT WE WILL EVER GO BACK...WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO REALLY GOOD CHINESE FOOD?? WHERE DID IT DISAPPEAR TO?? WE LOVE SHRIMP FRIED RICE AND WE ORDERED THAT AS ONE OF OUR ENTREES...IT WAS GOOEY, FLAT, TASTELESS ...WE ALSO ORDERED THE JOHNNY'S CAJUN DISH...HORRIBLE...SORRY JOHNNY...YOU NEED TO GET BACK TO SOME GOOD OLD CHINESE COOKING...IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND GOOD FRIED RICE IN DENVER...

OMG! Expensive bad food – Wow I spent $150 for a meal served cold and with attitude. I couldnt believe it. This was a complete waste of money. I was so embarrased for myself and guests. PLEASE do not go there!

The Best Chinese Restaurant in Denver – If you want excellent food, service, and atmosphere, you'll try the Imperial Chinese Restaurant. We are regulars and have never been disappointed. It is a treat to dine there. Our favorites are the Sesame Chicken, Lemon Chicken, Sizzling Black Pepper Steak, Imperial Rolls, and the Hot, Sour & Spicy Soup. We love the hot tea and the lemon slices in the water. Just a first class restaurant!!!

Good Service; Average Food – Service was very good. But, the quality of food was average.. Too much gravy in the dishes.. The dishes were swimming in a pool of gravy such as the Hot Pepper Beef. Few pieces of beef in a pool of gravy. Paid about $14 for this. Snow Pea dish also swimming in a pool of gravy. Also, portions were too small.. Paid for a $10-$14 dish and not worth the value.

Don't let the external decor fool you! – I used to close to this restaurant for years and never thought to go to it because of the location and outside decor. Now I moved farther away and I am kicking myself. While the building looks ugly and name sounds cheesey, it is the best Chinese I have had in Denver, hands down. The interior is very nice and from what I hear, the kitchen is very clean. The service was fantastic and the food was great from start to finish. If you are looking for something more American-Chinese, the Sesame Pawns were fantastic. The Ginger Ice Cream was refreshing and delicious. Many of the recommendationf from our waiter turned out really weel and the meal was resonably priced for how much food you get. I will definitely be going back there!

Best Chinese since China Town in Chicago! – The first time we went here was to take my boyfriend's dad who grew up in Chicago and who has been on the search for good Chinese food ever since he moved. Since we recently moved to Denver I relied on the suggestions from co-workers and reviews on Citysearch. The reviews were great but I didn't say anything to the parents - I wanted to see what their opinion was first. Our second visit was to take my parents for my dad's birthday.

We all ordered the family style dinner for $20 per person which gives you soup, appetizers, an entree and ginger ice cream. The wonton soup is a shrimp wonton and very good. The egg drop soup was the best we have ever had. For appetizers we had lettuce wraps, egg rolls, cheese wontons, and little ribs. All appetizers were just wonderful. The entrees we shared family style and I was surprised by how much I loved the choices of other members of our families. We had hunan beef, pork loin, pork ribs, sesame chicken, pork fried rice, & seafood bird's nest. It was some of the best chinese we have ever had. My boyfriend's parents said it was the best they have had since they lived in Chicago and used to eat in Chinatown.

The atmosphere is very nice with large fish tanks - don't miss the 2 orange parrot fish in the middle of the dinning room. They have "I Love U" tattooed across their sides! The servers rarely let you run out of water. My only complaint is that the room is very loud on a busy Friday night. While it is some of the most expensive Chinese food I've ever had it it hands down the best.

The bomb! – Day in and day out the best Chinese in Denver for over twenty years. Johnny is almost always there at the front desk and is one of the most gracious hosts in town. He trains the staff to perfection and they are efficient, if not terribly friendly but that's ok with me. I'd rather have good service than a new best friend. All of the food is great but standouts are Imperial Rolls, the best Sesame Chicken in town, the firecracker prawns, real Peking duck, whole steamed sea bass and great non-greasy fried rice. All served in a restful, sophisticated setting (no cheap faux-Chinese kitsch). There's a reason this place has been around, and so well reviewed, for all these years.

One of the best – When my wife and I want Chinese, Imperial is invariably our first or second choice. It's approximately a 30 minute drive from my house, but having tried at least 10-15 Chinese restaurants around the city, we have come to discover what we like. The wait staff is excellent and the food has always been wonderful (Yue Shang Lamb is a favorite). The restaurant is nationally rated (definitely a plus) by Zagat. For us it is not only where we fulfill our own cravings for Chinese food, but where we take visiting family and friends. It is a restaurant we trust will satisfy anyone who enjoys Chinese cuisine.

Elegant and unpretentious, this Chinese restaurant holds claim as one of Denver's best. – In Short
Having earned a reputation as one of Denver's top Chinese restaurants, all the favorites are included, with sweet and spicy sesame chicken topping the list of must-haves. Other favorites include scallion pancakes, Shanghai duck with black mushrooms and bok choy, and sea bass with pine nuts, jicama and sweet and sour sauce. For dessert, try ginger ice cream or a spot of jasmine tea.

Do not go! – I thought this would be a wonderful restaurant, what with all of its good reviews. It was terrible - the moo shu was mediocre and the chow fun noodles were an amphorous mass of overcooked noodle glob with some sauce on top! The coconut shrimp were tasty, but not enough to make up for the horrendous lack of customer service. The manager was as non-plussed as one could be when I told him how horrible the noodles were. Save your money, stay away from this restaurant.
