Great service and no made up extra charges! – Very pleased with the service. Unfortunately, a mouse lost it's life in the process...lol no but really, the tech came out found a mouse stuck in the fan of my fridge, removed it and didn't try to bs me and sell me more things to fix the fridge. He didn't even charge me the $95 trip fee. The whole thing cost me $69! I am very pleased. Thank you American appliance!
Long-term satisfaction – We've been customers of American Appliance for years and I was concerned when I read some of the negative reviews that those reading City Search might think they typified the preponderance of dealings with this company. Rich, a technician who has serviced our appliances before, just left after working on our freezer and we couldn't possibly be more satisfied. While he's definitely a favorite, others they've sent have also been punctual, clean cut and honest. None of us likes paying for repairs, scheduling always means interrupting work or other activities, but when a job needs to be done we have confidence that American Appliance will continue to get it done right.
Loved my experience! – My husband recently called another service company to come and service our washer and dryer. When the guy showed up he looked at our set like it was the first time he had ever saw a set like that. He kept coming to me with questions about how to run the washer, how they were hooked up...ect. After he left my washer started running funny and then stopped working. My friend recommended American Applience, she has used them for years. I called and a very respectful technician came out. He quickly determined the problem and even finished the service maintenence the other guy did not. He explained the problem in a way I understood, and even gave some pointers on how to save on my power bill by running my washer on a different cycle! You could tell he really knew what he was talking about. I will never use the other guys again. I am 100% satisfied with American and their technicians! Save yourself some time and money and call them first.
Avoid this company – The technician came to fix our dishwasher. He had to disassemble the door in order to get under the dishwasher. After he reassembled back the door of the dishwasher it started making a noise while closing (something was catching). I waited a few days, then I called back the company asking for fixing this problem.They wanted to charge me for fixing the problem which was caused by the technician service.
There are better appliance service companies in town. I also dealt with the Best Service Company, and they provide much better service.
Worst Service – This is the worst company I have dealt with. Unfortunately I was not able to choose another service repair comnpany because this horrible company was choosen as my service provider company by Xcel energy as a homesmart customer.Boo to Xcelenergy.!The first time they called me to schedule a repair on the icemaker they were not at all flexible with my work schedule. They told me a tech would be out between 8 and 10 when it was 15 to ten I called to cancel because I would've been late to work if I waited till they arrived and serviced. Then after I called to complain they agreed to come out on Saturday after they said it was impossible when I requested it intially.Shoudln't they work with my schedule instead of the other way around. Now two weeks ago I again had to take time off from work because my refrigerator was not cooling, and again they were not very flexible with my needs, although my refrigerator was not cooling and my food was spoiling. The service guy that came out cleaned the vent from the freezer to my fridge and said my refrigerator would be cold within 24 hours.Now two weeks later my fridge is still not working yesterday( labor day) I cleaned out my fridge and realized that food was spoiling.After I just went out and spent 137.00 on groceries. When I was called this morning I requested an appointment asap. They called me late today to confirm my appointment would be between 10 to 12 because there is 2 other people with noncooling refrigerators also. What do they only have one service technican and shouldn't have they fixed this the first time around.When I called to complain I was treated very rudely by the person on the phone. Now ill have to miss work again. I have lost time and money. The worst possible company. Save yourself time money and headaches. I will call Xcel to complain, they treat me as if they are doing me a favor, not as a paying customer.
Trip Charge will get you – I also found that the two appliances I had did not get fixed by the technician. Be careful as they charge a trip charge for every appliance that you have them look at. A starting rate of $135. so if you have two appliances it could cost $260 just for them to take a look. I guess they follow some blue book. So before you can a company to service you make sure that they do not charge a trip charge and if they do it should be on the one visit.
Terrible service, work ethic, customer relations, flexibility, etc. – If you need to have an appliance repaired, and you intend to use American Appliance, just know that getting them to even come out to your house will be like running the gauntlet. Getting them to actually fix said appliance... well, if you manage that feat, I applaud you. Five visits and two techinicians later, my refrigerator is in worse shape than when I started.
American Appliance dispatches technicians geographically, meaning: if you need to set up an appointment, be aware that it does not matter when you report your problem. If someone else is closer to them, or is available at a time that is more convenient to them, they will be taken care of first.
My refrigerator went out in mid-August. As of today, September 9th, it is still not working. I have taken more than one day off of work to accomodate this company's schedule, when it should have been the other way around, and I still have not received anything I feel is worthy of the term "service." Service, oddly enough, is something they claim to take pride in.
Both of the technicians who attempted to fix my fridge were unable to do so. Neither fixed it, and both left my kitchen floor looking like a lake, neither bothering to warn me that there was a veritable pool in my house. Not only is that unprofessional and rude, it could have been rather dangerous. In addition, I found screws and other unidentifiable objects on top of the refrigerator, on the floor, etc. later on.
I have been through three loads of groceries, and have yet to be reimbursed for any of the food lost, after a failed repair job.
When I confronted the manager/supervisor, I was told I was being inflexible, and that I needed to understand he "had a lot on his plate."
Must be nice. I had/have little on mine, as I have spent the last month without a working refrigerator.
DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY BUSINESS. If you have, PLEASE, PLEASE, share your horror story as well. Something needs to be done about this.
