Ask for Prices – I made the basic mistake of not asking price first. The dental work they suggested to be done was not the $200 to $225 I expected. It was over $400.
Then there was the chip. I did ask and was told it was $45. And it was except for the $17 / year that was not mentioned. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told that was a charge of some other company, as if they were not responsible.
They have seen my dogs for the last time.
BEWARE – The medical care my dog received was average however the prices are astronomical. Firstly, I was made to feel guilty I wasn't getting the top of the line annual exam for my dog. Secondly, the price of the exam included an injection the dog didn't need! To remove this cost required approval!
I left feeling as if the high prices were paying for a luxurious waiting room. Seriously, how many animal hospitals does one visit where the furniture rivals that of a law office?
Happy to report have found a VERY caring vet that's not hung up on a fancy building, leather furniture in the waiting room and charges fairly for their loving expertise.
accupuncture for elderly dog – After driving 25 miles to Gunbarrel I was thinking maybe this was to far. During my Heidi's appointment I was convinced that this is where all my dogs will come. Dr. Brad is deeply devoted to animals. I had been a cat/dog rescuer in 2 States before moving to Co. and we shared stories with each other. He touched me with his deep love for animals. My Heidi had issues getting up and walking. Dr. Brad successfully used accupuncture to relieve her and she now scouts out the bunnies so she can chase them up & down the hill.
Love These Guys! – We took our new puppy to the Gunbarrel Vet after a referral from a friend, and we are so glad we did! Our vet, Dr. Welcome is wonderful! Very helpful and knowledgeable and our pup just loves her. She has been such a big help for us as new puppy owners, and very patient answering all our questions. The front desk people are all very nice and the office is always clean. I recommend them to everyone I see with a pet!
great referral – I drove all the way to gunbarrel to go there and I'm so glad I did. They have a woman who can clean dogs teeth with no knocking them out. She did an incredible job and I feel so good not having to take that risk.
I highly recommend.
Saved a kitty's life! – The folks at Gunbarrel were so wonderful. I run a persian cat rescue for Colorado and Wyoming, and the Boulder shelter called me with a cat needing rescue by the end of the day. I didn't have room at that moment, nor did I have any available volunteers to go get her on less than a day's notice, since I'm based in Fort Collins. The lovely staff not only agreed to board her for us until we had room with no advanced warning, they even went down to the shelter to pick her up to ensure she wouldn't be euthanized at the end of the day! They took great care of the cat, a beautiful, affectionate Chinchilla persian with a lot of life left to live thanks to Gunbarrel!
great place – Nice place to take your dog to get teeth cleaned without having to put them under! What a great job they did. Really nice building and seems clean.
