Best Glasses I've Ever Had! – Everyone was so friendly and happy to see you there!

I had lots of trouble with cheap no-line bifocals from discount stores. But Dr. Wharton took plenty of time getting the prescription right, and the optician made me the best pair of glasses I've ever had.

I can see and read alot better. Definitely worth the investment.

Comfortable, and good prices – I'd been to chain places for eye exams and contacts before, and I knew that impersonal thing wasn't for me. When I decided to go to a real doctor's office, I called around. These guys were so friendly and the prices were in line with other doctors' offices.

Dr. Wharton and Dr. Potter treated my kids so kindly. They were patient and careful getting my contacts just right. My glasses are great, too. I'm happy I went there.

Bedside Manner? – Sunrise is a very good eye care facility. Dr. Potter, the newest doctor, is wonderful. Her manner is professional and warm and she is a most welcome addition to the business. Dr. Wharton can be aloof and cool but that doesn't take away from the knowledge of her profession. You either like Dr. Wharton or you don't. Sunrise is on the pricey side but they do take insurance. Their eyeglasses are very pricey so plan on getting a prescription and taking it somewhere else. I have been a patient for years and have switched to Dr. Potter. Sometimes our health care providers need refresher courses in bedside/patient manners but if they do the job, we can overlook their faults. These visits are never social, nor should they be.

Most businesses want to be paid either in full at the time of service or want their patients to have their insurance information ready at hand. These folks want their money just like every other business.

Very rude service – I had been a prior patient of Dr. Karen Wharton's and came back to her after being away for a year. Despite me being a returning patient, she was incredibly rude to me during my second visit with her. She refused my right to use my insurance because she and her secretaries were not able to understand my insurance information that was faxed over to them from my insurance company.

Rather than actually call the woman's number from my insurance company that I had taken the extra trouble to give them to try to clear up the information on the fax, Dr. Wharton took her frustration and attitude out on me. Her secretary was confused as to why she was not charging me/processing my papers for me like other patients. (Note: her secretary had to whisper her confusion to me: I guess they are afraid of the doctor?...) When I went to ask Dr. Wharton about it she snapped at me and grabbed my prescriptions away from me (ones that she had just given) like I was a little child.

I have never been treated so rudely in my life by any doctor, especially as a returning patient who was being polite and calm with her the whole time. She made me pay full price for my visit rather than use insurance when I stood up for myself. Her secretary's face was in shock the whole time Dr. Wharton was rudely addressing me. After I paid in full, I asked for a receipt in order to give it to my insurance company for a reimbursement. When I asked the secretary for a receipt, Dr. Wharton continued to address me with a rude tone as if I'd asked for something ridiculous. Fortunately, her secretary was nice and helped me out.

Important: after I had paid, Dr. Wharton gave my prescriptions back, not before. She was suddenly nice to me when I was leaving and she had been all paid up.

A few days later, I found out that a friend of mine who also goes to her received the same rudeness from her until he had paid up. Dr. Wharton cannot control her emotions and she was rude and inappropriate to at least two of her patients. During my visit she had stated that she doesn't want to deal with insurance and I was too polite to tell her that that is part of a doctor's job, nevermind a normal responsibility of a doctor's office. There were more moments of rudeness from her that I could report, but it would take too long, so here is my honest report on the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor who knew me from before. Beware if you appropriately stand up for yourself with her.

I travel 1700 mi to see this doctor! – I think the professionalism and care at Sunrise is phenomenal. When I moved across country, I could find no optometrist whose manner, office help, prescriptions, and frame offerings I liked as well--so I actually travel 1700 miles to see this optometrist.

She is always lovely, as is her staff. Best 'scrips ever, too.

Excellent professional service – I've been going here for ten years and referring my friends. The Doctors are careful and clear and do a great job.

doctor was rude - bad prices – The doctor was very rude. She was condescending and snobby. Prices were also above average. I will not visit this clinic again.
