Dr. Benjamin is terrific, and I would highly recommend her. She is a very talented therapist, and is also extremely empathetic, approachable, intelligent, easy to talk to, and friendly. She helped me through some very tough times and I am much, much better thanks to her perceptive therapy. She is by far the best therapist that I have seen.
Dr. Elizabeth Benjamin has been extremely instrumental in my healing process. She is insightful, knowledgeable and professional. I can honestly say that I would not be where I am in my life today without her help. I have been seeing her for over 2 years now and cannot say enough nice things about her and her practice. Her schedule is flexible, and she is easy to get in touch with if something comes up and you need to reschedule. I would highly recommend her as a therapist - her energy, caring nature and wisdom set her apart from other professionals I have seen in the past.
I am a big fan of Dr. Elizabeth! When I first started seeing her 6 months ago I was really struggling. She helped me a lot initially and seeing her every week has helped me to continue to make progress with my anxiety. I would say she is a therapist who just gets it. She understands where I am coming from most of the time, and when she doesn't, she asks the right questions to help us come up with a solution to whatever the problem may be. She is also very flexible with scheduling (we all have things that come up sometimes...) and easy to get in touch with. High recommended!
Enjoyable & Helpful. I began seeing Dr. Elizabeth Benjamin about 5 months ago and I still look forward to seeing her every week. She is very smart and has something like 25 years experience so I feel like she can handle anything we discuss. Dr. Benjamin has a great outlook on life herself so she really brings energy, humor, and wisdom to each session. I definitely have a healthier relationship with myself, my husband and a better outlook on life in general than I did 5 months ago and I know she has played a large role in that. My husband likes her too and she is able to keep our "joint sessions" balanced, challenging (and helping) us both both at the same time.
I highly recommend Dr. Benjamin. Even when I'm feeling great I keep my appointments with her because I know she'll make me feel even better. Give her a shot and see what I mean.
I have been seeing Dr. Elizabeth Benjamin for almost a year now and I think she is absolutely terrific! She is easy to talk to and puts you at ease, so you feel that you can completely open up to her. When I come in for my appointments with any issues, I always leave with different ideas of how to handle my problems, life stresses and anxieties. She is supportive, encouraging, understanding and always has a lot of great insight to offer. I feel there is a wonderful balance of me talking and her listening, and her talking (and giving feedback, ideas, suggestions) and me listening. I highly recommend Dr. Benjamin as a therapist.
Too funny! – I made an appointment to talk to Dr. Benjamin and just prior to my appointment I googled her to see if there was anything interesting out there and found this review of her regarding her missed appointments. I thought that since it was all the way back in September that it was resolved, an isolated incident, whatever.
I walk up the stairs to her office to find a sticky note on the door saying that she went home sick and didn't have my number to call me at to reschedule. If I wasn't really looking forward to having someone to talk to I probably would have started laughing.
Needless to say I probably won't be rescheduling my appointment with her.
unprofessional: Missed Appointments – I came to Elizabeth Benjamin based on a co-worker's recommendation for some counseling/marriage counseling.
Pros: Easy to talk to, pleasant, I could relate to her in some ways. Fun and upbeat. Only takes checks/cash, but is nice about it if you forget a check and allowed us to pay double the next time. We are not check people.
Missed 3 appointments completely. On one occasion her car was outside the office while we waited a 1/2 hour in her waiting room and texted her with no response. She didn't contact me about it until the next day. My husband had to get a babysitter for another session that she missed. One other missed appointment she called my work phone (duh, I'm not AT work.. I'm AT YOUR OFFICE) 5 minutes after the start time of our appointment to say she had to take care of an emergency. Then we just happened to be puttering around on a walk around the office park and saw her car pull back in to her office lot at exactly 1pm.. just the time our session ends.
Put a damper on counseling in general - this was our first experience trying outside help and it didn't go well.
Never gave 'homework' I had to ask for extra activities to practice at home.
I've made an apt to see another Boulder counselor, a LMFT who uses a cognitive approach to therapy. I felt w/Elizabeth I talked and talked and talked and had to pull the action items out for myself. I'd say, so how do we do this at home? Give me examples.., etc. I don't feel like I should be the one doing this, I feel with the money we are paying + her level of education, she should be providing all of this to us.
