Best in the country – Are you kidding? This is the best metaphysical store in the country!! What are you talking about "return policy"???? Is that the way you judge a store? (Been there 25 years.)



The Lighthouse Bookstore is dedicated to "Freeing Tibet"

"Religious Tolerance" & "Universal Enlightenment".

I truly question the motives and maturity of the people who rant against a "spiritual bookstore."

We should be thankful we have a store like this anywhere, never mind in Boulder.

Head on down to Walmart or Target for your money back. One writer actually talks about stealing....try stealing the books about Karma.

I've shopped there for over 20 years and only found the store to get better each time.

Try one of the many Asian boutiques next door – They may have a nice new age inventory, but WARNING, they don't do full returns, only store credit, and aren't nice about it...no exceptions.

Great stock – Considering the amount of obnoxious Boulder hippies who come in thinking the customer is always right no matter what, the service is amazing. The people, including the owner, are all very kind and have been for many years. The stock of esoteric Buddhism material is really very extraordinary.

They're Lucky I'm not Suing! – SUCH DISRESPECTFUL SERVICE!!! Worst store ever! DON'T COME HERE! I went in with my sister to buy a present. We bought an over priced book and five minutes later decided to return it. We failed to notice their small "in store credit only" sign and instead of giving us a warning the old man working their said "store policy". After failing to pick something of equal value in the store, and having to pay them MORE money, the man said "i hope you never shop here again, I know you wont. If you were men I would have come around the counter and taught you guys a lesson but since you're ladies I'll let you slide". NEVER HAVE I BEEN SO ABRUPTLY MISTREATED! I'd sue them for harassment and making threats if i could.

Another HORRIBLE experience at Lighthouse books – I never had a bad experience at this bookstore... until now. Yesterday I bought a book from their clearance shelf, and the book contained a compact disc. When I wanted to listen to the CD, I discovered it was cracked and completely unreadable. No problem, I thought, as there were at least four other copies of that book on the shelf. The first time I called to ask about an exchange, the sales clerk was rude and rushed me off the phone and told me to come in to the store. That was the evening of 12/28/10. I am glad I didn't waste $7 taking the bus from Longmont to Boulder, because on 12/29/10, I called and the clerk "Hazel" told me I could not get an exchange, that only the owner could authorize that and he was out of town. I tried to explain that I am moving to Fort Collins in several days, and I asked if she could please get authorization because I would not be back in Boulder for some time. She refused, and kept parroting the "I have no authority" line. I have a question: Lighthouse Books, what kind of business would trust their physical store with probably 100K+ worth or merchandise to someone while they're out of town for an extended period and NOT trust them to make a simple decision to give a well-warranted refund/exchange for less than ten bucks? A flaky and completely out of touch one, and one I suspect will be going out of business in the coming years, and rightfully so. But hopefully they will change their ways. I'll head over to the Boulder Bookstore next time I'm in town.

I have never been tempted to steal until today, the thought crossed my mind to just go and replace the a good CD in one of the other books with my broken one. But I decided to write the publisher instead, and this way someone else won't get screwed by Lighthouse books. Besides, with all the "psychics" in their shop they would have caught me anyway. Save your money, buy it online.

My favorite store – I love the Lighthouse. I come from California where New Age stores are common, but this store beats everything I've visited. My Dad is into this stuff big time and told me I would love the town and especially the Lighthouse. I cannot believe people say they love a store and have shopped their for years and then take the time to try to hurt the store.

I am going to be a long time customer.

Bad experience with Lighthouse Bookstore – I just had a really negative experience with the owner of the metaphysical bookstore on Pearl St. Lighthouse Bookstores. I absolutely love that store and have shopped there forever (probably 20 years)!!!! The other day I was in a hurry looking for a birthday present for a friend and found something and went to purchase it. The cashier put the transaction through and then went to take the price tag off and tore the paint off the bottom of the item. She apologized and tried to do the same with several others, but the same thing happened. I had not found anything else I was interested in in the store and didn't have time to shop further. They have a no return policy but I hadn't even walked out of the store with it... The cashier couldn't do a return and although I tried to problem solve options for a voided transaction, she insisted there were no other option but to take the item home... and to call the owner to rectify the situation.... When I called today I explained the above, indicating that I prefer my money back because it was not something I chose to leave the store with etc etc... He robotically repeated, "You can come in and exchange the item for anything else, any time..." When I tried to explain that this feels like a unique situation clarifying that it was not a completed purchase and it was his employee who insisted it was the only solution at the time and that I was not comfortable with this solution stating I wasn't sure he was really hearing me.... he said, "I heard everything you said, and "I don't really care mam!" It felt like a really curt, rude, blow off and a bad way to do business. I just felt the need to tell folks that I think might chose to do business here in case you this may influence your desire to frequent this store. Thanks for listening and feel free to pass this information on if you desire.
